I missed last night but they always have an interesting chemistry. Mentally, she seems to return to New York when she's with Letterman, yknow? Even if it makes her squirm a bit.

Sassy...you say "Love Tried to Welcome me" is BEAT??? WHAT THE FUCK????? Top 5 best Madonna ballads, easily. And "Forbidden Love" and "Sanctuary" are better that "Ok"...both album track classics. And I love "Survival." "Inside of Me" is one of her best songs period. I love that record too. Especially when you factor in some of the other material assosciated with it like "I'll Remember", "I Want You", "You'll See" and "Let Down Your Guard". I think her batch of songs from '94/'95 is among the best of her career. You're my new best friend. Someone sees the light! So many Madonna fans even diss Bedtime Stories. And I agree--94/95 was her creative peak as far as her reperatoire. Although Erotica is still my fave. It's too bad she cancelled her tour in 95...that woulda been the shit. Anyone who doesn't know her cover of "I want you" is missing Madge at her best. I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

I didn't see all of it, but she just seemed really stiff and uncomfortable, especially when Letterman made her ride a horse (which was kind of funny). I don't know, there was just something very off about her. Sassy, can you explain it better? the impression i got was she could not remember which "madonna" she was going to be for the interview. its not secret that she is the queen of reinvention and thaat everything she says or does should be taken somewhat with a grain of salt. that said, i think she's begun to belive her own bullshit. one second she's telling us that even thinking about sex is equal to having sex because "you are what you think" (a play, apparantly, on you are what you eat). the next second she's showing her cleavage to the camera. she was very flaky and jumped from topic to topic (as is usual on letterman because he's such a lazy host) while saying very little at all. without actually seeing her jump from personality to personality and character to character its difficult to explain. nonetheless, we sat here wondering what in the world she was trying to do. it was like she went on there determined to be the "new and improved" madonna whom she's been peddling in recent years but deep down she knows people want the old madonna. so instead of being herself she changed personas every few seconds to keep everyone happy. it was just all very odd. makes me wonder if madonna really knows who she is. it left me a little sad for her (rthough i did enjoy the whole bit).

All I picked up on was what ehuffnsd said, the same nervous tension they always have where they're both pretty on guard and letting it down to throw a barb at the other one. The interaction seemed pretty typical of all their other interviews. I thought it was great. "I don't need your forgiveness, cos I've been saved by Jesus, so fuck you."

You were concerned because Madonna gave a cleavage shot. You are gay! I thought that was great (her body looks better than ever!). She was a little bit of out of it, but no, she didn't go Farah. I've seen about six dozen other woman who looked a hellvu more uncomfotable than Madonna did.

She was that way when she appeared with Sandra in 89 She was that way when she appeared in 1994 She was that way when she appeared in 2001 She was that way when she appeared in 2003 he took jabs at her before she came out about her being clean and taking showers. Jokes that go back to the Fincident. she always comes clothes to saying a curse word or to sexual to make him uncomfatable. it's what they do. Madge and Letterman have always been just really random. Alot of it is inside jokes. Hell Madge probably called up yesterday said she was in town and wanted to appeared and they scrapped the show they had planned. alot of it is inside jokes and carry over from previous interviews so if you've missed on it's hard to follow along. "Bedtime Stories" did a have a lot of samples but they were subtle. The book claims she samples Aaliyah's "Back and Forth" on "Secret" but I can't hear it! I do like the Abba sample (I'm not familar with the song but I bet I know what the sample is) but it does sound like overkill by sampling very well known songs. Some make sense like "I Feel Love" (Donna deserves the check!). But I mean, "Can You Feel It". That's going to be really good or really bad! there's too much filler on that record for my liking. survival is a lame ass opening track. don't stop is beat. love tried to welcome me is beat. i'd rather be your lover is kinda lame. basically the album gives us secret, bedtime story, take a bow, and human nature. forbidden love is ok. sanctuary is ok. human nature is ok. all in all, its a weak follow up to erotica. this is, of course, all in my opinion. I think it's a bit underrated. It's a very slow album save a few tracks...but at the same time lush and organic. Very short sweet and to the point I think. It's not a powerhouse album but it's not supposed to be. Christian Zombie Vampires
