Mediabase 24/7 Mainstream Hit (Top 40)

Used by Radio and Records for their weekly charts closly mirrors Billboards Airplay chart

It ain't official till Billboard says so! hmph! wink I think this song will do well on radio. We shall see, I guess.

most stations use R&R to determine their playlists anyway, not Billboard.

Could not believe that dj's were spinning Gwen's 'Luxurious.' There are much better songs to relase as a single. And after 'Cool', it would have been nice to see 'Crash', 'Serious' or even 'the real thing.'

not Luxurious mad

I love Luxurious. nod Crash would have been better though.

That shitty banana song was the one that needed to go.

yay!! it's good to see her in fighting form again. i'm glad she is doing well!!!

i think another thign that hindered American Life was she was trying to promote with the Children's books. Confusing the masses by changing her apperence and attitude depending on what she was promoting.

That and a lot of people just plain didn't like the album.

Why do Madonna and her fans always get nervous before every release, as if it's going to flop? Even her flops are popular. American Life almost went platinum didn't it? Madonna said before "Music" that she was nervous because she "really wanted it to do well" and I laughed out loud. Please. You've mastered timing and presentation and who's a hot producer to the point of at least the media blitz stage. Relax.

You must be referring to Lady Bunny's song from this year's Wigstock...where she sang "I just shit a banana, B-A-N-A-N-A-S!"

I never get nervous.I want her to succeed, but I'm realistic. We're not in the 80s anymore. This new CD won't sell like 'True Blue' or 'Like A Prayer'.But I am confident this album will do better than 'American Life'.

Her body looks fine. I think she just has heavy rouge under her cheekbones, giving the illusion of emaciation.

It shouldn't . Even though not published til Thursday , Billboard complies their charts on Monday based on the previous week. So no sales and most of the airplay will not be reflected on tomorrows chart. Look for a huge debut the next week with a brisk 7 days worth of airplay plus digital sales which started tuesday (Top 5 now on itunes)

My expectations are really high or really low....

I see it being one of her biggest sellers (maybe not "True Blue" numbers but good "2000" numbers) or selling less than AL in America (and maybe overall).

Her record company is spending $20 mil to promote the album. No wonder it will do good!!

I expect the single to debut next week @ #26

but she made a mistake too!!

most artist only release the downlaod when the airplay is peaking so as to get the best possible chart position.

If downloads start to decrease the momentum will be lost and its difficult to get it back.

Due to total lackluster sales of her last album she hasnt got an advance. Bascially she isnt gettin paid until she sells a few million

$20 million!!!!! eek , man it must be really good or something, cause that's a whoel lot of faith, i can't belive they didn't gie her an advance, how many albums has she sold for her label! Arista gave Whitney 100 million before she released her mega flop "just whitney"

has her airplay stiffed? it hasn't risen that much?
I hear the album has a track that samples "music sounds better with you" one of my fav house cuts!!

People are saying that because of the always increasing airplay and that is expected to raise and the strong sales on Itunes that it will debut in the top 30

Madonna's contract is almost up. one more album after this i believe she got an 80million advance in 1991 when she signed the deal.

She has sold worldwide an excess of 200million units. She has worked well for them so they have faith in the album and are willing to put out for her. plus i think there was a shift in management there as well. the previous head and her didn't get along.

I posted this is the Sticky thread cause I didn't see this one but I heard Hung Up on the radio out here in San Diego. It sounded so good. It made me like it even more so I think this is the beginning of it starting to get some major airplay as I expect it to get.

The track I Love New York begins with a chunk of lyrics from Love Song [her duet with Prince from 1989's Like a Prayer album] and there are lots of references to your past records. It seems like this album's almost like a retrospective of your whole career. Is that what you were aiming for?

No, I just feel like I can plagiarise myself whenever I feel like it. [Laughs] It's all part of my past, and I'm dragging my past into the present and hopefully into the future.

wasnt that written by prince all i know is madonna cant write anything more then childrens stories

Plus she hasnt had a hit album since 1998 which adds up to 7-8yrs this could be her last commercial oppurtunity no wonder she is taking it very seriously but i dont think it will click

Here we go again.....

First off, I assume the writer/interviewer meant to say that she uses "Love Song" lyrics in "Hung Up" (I doubt she uses it in both songs...if so, what the fuck?)

They co-wrote the song together. In all likelyhood he was more involved in the music aspect and she was more involved in the lyrics (not to mention Madonna's voice sticks out much more than Prince's in the whole "time" segment of that song, which definately makes me think she wrote those lyrisc)). I think by now if Prince had written those lyrics he would have said something by now!

And 2000's "Music" was definately a hit album! I think it sold as many copies as ROL or close to it! The 2001 GVH2, a very half-heated collection of her later hits, also sold pretty well. She's only had one flop/dissapointment and that was two years ago!

She seemed to take AL pretty seriously, although her fatal flaw was not allowing the video to remain out, even though VH1 and MTV probably would ban it. If WTFLFG proved anything it's that people are kind of over the banned Madonna videos by now but considering the content of AL, it might have gotten people fired up.

Madonna's last major hit album was 2000's Music. It sold 2 million copies, so it was hardly a flop. I think it's unfair to rule Madonna out just cause she had one album that happened to bomb. U2 had one, yet they turned out alright. Bowie had 2, yet he rebounded pretty well. And Paul McCartney's had quite a few stinkers, yet he hasnt been written off. \

Give Madonna the benefit of the doubt.
