Years after their peak, they're still the 2 biggest bands in the world. I mean, thev've definitely got their differences, but they go hand in hand.

Also, it's the closest thing you get to a John Lennon solo record until 1970. With the Beatles is great, too, and Help has some songs that surpass many of the songs on their later records. Well then... with those descriptions I might have to dig into those couple albums. For that era of stuff I am only aware of the tracks that appeared on the Red album: What do you think of Beatles For Sale, andyman91? A Hard Days Night is a much better collection of original Beatles music. The songwriting on Beatles for sale is great, beginning to move away from puppy love and towards more personal stuff, slightly darker than before. No Reply & I'm a Loser show more of Lennon's real nature. But the album is kind of a step backward as a whole. They wrote all the songs on the predecessor A Hard Days Night, and I think 7 of these songs are rock & roll standards, like their first two albums. Check this song out at:

I didn't grow up on The Beatles, but discovered and embraced their music on my own around 1995 with the help of oldies stations, and the much hyped Anthologies. I bought alot of their music, and taped a radio program which played basically their entire catalogue from A-Z in a day. Just hearing their stories and knowing who've influenced them makes their music even more worth listening. Unfortunately I haven't listened in a long time cuz 80% of their music are on tapes. I would love to transfer it to cd then to my Dell DJ so I can listen to it more. "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!

I was talking about this last night with my boyfriend. This is exactly what I don't like about it. I guess I don't necessarily object to the remakes per se, but they weren't exactly exciting remakes. A Hard Day's Night is a satisfying listen from start to finish. There are big lapses in Beatles for Sale.

They were on an incredible pace of two records per year, and they'd just "conquered America" and filmed their first movie, toured since 1960 nonstop, it seems. How could they keep it up? Still the originals are pretty good. But Hard Days Night is probably their greatest early album. Check this song out at:

That sounds similar to a show that is broadcast here in L.A. on 97.1 KLSX: Breakfast With The Beatles (every Sunday 8am-10am) Supposedly it's the longest running Beatles show in the states (over 20 years). http://www.klsx.com/shows/beatles.shtml tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. Jon Brion:
"The Beatles are just impossibly great. Most people who hear it can appreciate that it's just well-spirited at the very least, the rest of us just shake our heads and go,'Those fucking assholes!' It's almost a drag as an artist because we're all living under the shadow of the Beatles." VOTE....EARLY
