Warszawa

mushy

This is the name of a David Bowie song from his album Low I love dearly. The album is my favourite album by him. It is athmospheric. It is heavy.

It also the song that inspired Joy Division before they became Joy Division; they briefly named their band Warszawa before another band with the same (or almost the same) name made them switch to Joy Division.

Sometimes I think Warszawa would have fitted them better, even though Joy Division as a brand has become quite iconic.

So, props to David Bowie's song AND the band that briefly was.

Great song with passionately sung but utterly meaningless lyrics.
There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

All 3 of those are way up there for me too. It's always nice to see Lodger get some love.

Working my way through his career. Like 440 new songs to me... it is amazing. Most surprising album is Heroes. I like it lots. Reminds me of Low.

They're definitely twin albums, of which he has lots. He seemed to like to go in pairs.

In my experience, most Bowie fans are crazy about Low and Outside. They usually both make it into the top 5 polls.

A most incredible album and this song is an important element. I loved it the very first time I heard it and it amazes me more on each listen.

"Low", "Heroes" and Iggy Pop's "The Idiot" were recorded in Berlin; all three albums came out in 1977. smile

You should download the credits too... smile

I am very aware of this. I am not totally unaware about Bowie, my friend.

Probably having Noepie over. I link music to people. I thought of him, then wanted more Bowie.
It's as simple as that.

I must admit that I am currently (SHOCK! HORROR!) going through the songbook on shuffle, hehehe. One huge Bowie album with 480 songs on it.

I just frowned at ONE song up til now and that was the horrifying experience of having to hear Bowie sing "Helden".

Ooh! After A Better Future I now get served Speed Of Life! heart

Multi-layered. This album to me is like an old friend that still can amaze me also.

I must admit that lots of Bowie fans think Low a bit... weird. At least, the Bowie fans I meet.
"So, what is your fave album?", they say.
"Low"
Puzzled face; "Ow..."

A Bowie fan that doesn't love "Low" is weird if you ask me.

It still sounds like the future and more modern than most of what's coming out today.

Absolutely true. Actually, when my good friend Barry came to visit I first played Low, then Takk by Sigur Ross and it felt like one album...

It's Alexis Morrell Carrington Colby Dexter Rowan.

I like to match Justin's, that's all. Even though he did so-so on my test.
