Another media person hates his MTV. Here's another article about how and why MTV sucks.
http://www.laweekly.com/i...-finke.php Deadline Hollywood Who Hates Their MTV? How the rebel network sold its soul for bimbos, princesses and bucks by NIKKI FINKE Let's talk about the end of civilization as we know it, in this case signified by the rise of Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County and My Super Sweet 16, the logic-defying successors to the creepy I Want a Famous Face and that scummy Cribs. We feel your pain. We, too, remember when MTV used to be all about the issues — subversive and usually liberal. Now the network is all gab about the glam lifestyles, love triangles, mean girls and staged cat fights on these impossible-to-ignore unreality shows starring spoiled simpletons. We don’t mean to make like the Rev. James Dobson, but we’re certain that the MTV execs who green-lighted these docudramas about socioeconomic excess are headed straight for hell.

So true, I have never seen so many shows about people that I hate in my life.Spoiled rich kids, bitchy little girls crying because there dad wont pay their cell phone bill for them and how thats destroying their self esteem. But honestly VH1 is just as bad with their shows. Well maybe there is a Silver lining on the Horizon, MTV real world (although scripted) is only doing one more then Retiring. I guess they figured that maybe they were running out of ideas, i mean how many times can they do the , Lesbian, Angry Black Guy, Racist white guy, ugly girl who feels left out, but somehow they all have drinking problems and end up screwing each other by the end of a season. The people at Viacom should just create a new channel and move all these shows infiltrating MTV over to the new network and make MTV what it used to be. I can't help but think that they need to rename the station that is MTV because it clearly isn't that anymore. It's just too bad those folks at 1515 Broadway don't give a fuck about MTV other than exploiting the name and making money off of it. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I agree with you completely. And I'll tell you why The Real World is ending, it's because they ran out of cities to infest. America can breathe a sigh of relief now. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". At least when MTV used to have reality TV shows that focused on real people they would deal with real issues. Those weren't bad shows! Now what this is shit about changing my life and making me a cheerleader or inviting cameras into these disgustingly elite sixteen parties. I used to miss MTV since I don't have cable where I live and couldn't wait to get to my parents ever so often to catch up. NOw I could careless (although, I do want to see the Madonna documentary when it airs...). [Edited 10/15/05 10:20am]

The Real World went from crap to relavent and back again. For far too long it's just been another stupid sex fest with no entertainment at all. It's one thing for MTV/VH1 to not play music...at the very least make the shows that you have in it's place good! I might argue that VH1 is worse. All of their shows are these ET style expos on fashion, hair and celebrity pocketbooks. And while their Top 100 countdowns used to be enteratining, they've gotten very stale (the "Bad Breakup Songs" and "Even More Bad Breakup Songs" type deals show they are really out of ideas!).

It's disgraceful isn't it? Everytime I see an ad for Laguna Beach I get so mad I want to throw something at the TV. I wish the Pacific Ocean would swallow up that part of town and take them fake ass, bratty, sorry motherfuckers with it. Shit like that is killing MTV. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I agree with you on VH1. I really don't mind the Celebreality and Best Week Ever part of the station but all those "The Fabulous Life of Pets" and Embarassing moments of the month and shit is pure stupidity that is not needed at all. Give me VH1 from 1995-2000 anyday. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

unless you're between the ages of 13 and 20, you're supposed to hate MTV. it isn't made for you. it's always been made for that demographic. you're just old now. "I don't need your forgiveness, cos I've been saved by Jesus, so fuck you."

The only problem is, what about VH1, who is made for old people. I don't think that the kids love the MTV much anymore either.

MTV and VH1 are virtually one in the same now. They both are trying to get the same group of people and that's what's killing both of them. I don't know where their ratings stand but I used to hear that VH1 was suffering in the ratings but that was because every other hour they'd play another Behind The Music. What I would do just to see a BTM today. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
