ass-ley simpson to "sing" again on SNL this weekend

It's 'synch' or swim for Ashlee Simpson
NEW YORK (AP) — It's synch or swim for Ashlee Simpson on her second go-round on NBC's Saturday Night Live.

The vocally disparaged singer will perform this weekend, almost a year after the SNL audience heard her voice — singing the wrong song — while she held a microphone at her waist.

Even though lip-synching has been around for years, the incident resulted in Simpson being lampooned as an example of today's style-over-substance culture.

Simpson's manager-father, Joe Simpson, has said she used "extra help" because acid reflux disease had made her voice hoarse.

The 21-year-old singer will perform songs from her upcoming album, I Am Me, according to Simpson's website.

At this point, why even give her any lip service? People should just ignore her & hopefully she'll go away & we can all look back at all this Ashlee Simpson business as a bad dream cool .

i hope they at least have some really clever skit or staged incident that will make it worthwhile. but considering SNL's commitment to suckage over the past few seasons, this probably won't be the case.

SNL just knows they'll get good ratings because of the controversy.

I'll watch, but only because Napoleon Dynamite is the host, and I'm turning it off after the news (hopefully before Asslee sings).

I don't get it. In her case isn't lip-syncing preferable to her actually singing? Didn't she actually sing at some football game, and got booed by 60,000 people?
Bottom line, it's just sad this talentless girl is getting so much attention. The deal her dad made with the devil musta been SWEEEEET.
