If it's in the works, iTunes or anyone else for that matter would be crazy not to put it out.

I don't know that I'd buy the whole thing. Especially if there are tons of live tracks included. But if I could get the rare stuff separately, I'd be all over that.

it'll probably be like the U2 complete collection on iTunes. That one costs $150 to buy the whole thing, which is 446 tracks. I would expect this to be similar - cheaper and easier to just buy the whole thing.

This is the kind of thing iTunes is great for - this is effectively a 50 CD boxed set - that's just not feasible to do as a CD release. I wonder if there will be a special edition Stevie Wonder iPod like the special U2 iPod.

Sorry to sound obssessive, but since this is Prince.org, I feel someone should ask...

I wonder if this will have any Prince collaborations on? Maybe the version of Cold Chill with the Prince guitar solo will be available? Or the often-rumored Prince/Stevie sessions (I think Prince mentioned they have a whole unreleased album in one of the '94-'96 interviews - I wish I could remember where I read that).

I wonder if there's anything from when he supposedly used to jam with Funkadelic, or anything from that aborted album with the Rolling Stones. But Prince collaborations would be cool too cool

Well, what would a good album be without a few people who dislike it. I have heard many call it a very solid effort, and in some cases a future classic. I suppose that you thought Alicia Keys, Usher, and Gwen Stefani's records were brilliant or spectacular?

It's an absolutely amazing piece of IMO. Better than anythin he has produced in the past 20 years. When you listen to it, one thingis for sure, it is Stevie. For that, we true fans are ecstatic.

I personally think it's much better than anything he's done since the seventies, it even shows signs of him stretching his limits. It does however have traces of his occasional easy listening mediocrity from the 80s and 90s. Overall though I'm glad I got it.

LOS ANGELES (Billboard) - After several well-publicized delays,
Stevie Wonder's first studio album in 10 years, "A Time to Love," is due in stores October 18.

Wonder says the album's delay had nothing to do with any fear factor: "I was never afraid to put this out. That was never the issue -- ever. I wanted it to sound contemporary but still be me. It was just a matter of getting it right."

The artist adds, "Everyone worked very hard on this. I'm very comfortable with everything."

The 15 original tracks, not surprisingly, revolve around the theme of love. Musically, the set reflects Wonder's embrace of all genres, from hip-hop to gospel to world music, with some arrangements using strings. These musical and lyrical components spark memories of signature songs from Wonder's 45-year career.

His duets with daughter Aisha Morris ("How Will I Know," "Positivity") recall her contribution as an infant on "Isn't She Lovely," as does young son Kailand's impromptu assist at the end of "Sweetest Somebody I Know."

Wonder gets down to man-and-his-piano basics on the jazzy "Moon Blue" (co-written by "The Color Purple" actress Akosua Busia) and the atmospheric "True Love." The inspirational "Shelter in the Rain" is being promoted to gospel and Christian stations. It is available as a single online October 4 and in stores October 18, with proceeds going to the Wonder Foundation to benefit Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.

Guest vocalists include gospel artist Kim Burrell on the anthemic "If Your Love Cannot Be Moved" (with choir vocals produced by Kirk Franklin) and India Arie on the title track. Other guests include flutist Hubert Laws, guitarist Doc Powell,
Paul McCartney, drummer
Narada Michael Walden and Brazilian guitarist Oscar Castro Neves. A planned collaboration with
John Mayer did not pan out because of scheduling problems.

Fans -- who could download the full album beginning September 27 at all major online music sites -- will find more than just the new studio recording awaiting them.

A week before the album's in-store date, a new boxed set of Wonder material will be available exclusively from iTunes. According to Motown president Sylvia Rhone, the boxed set will contain more than 570 tracks, including remixes, rarities and previously unreleased material. Wonder also appears on J Records' "So Amazing: An All-Star Tribute to
Luther Vandross," dueting with Beyonce on the title cut.

Unfortunately this set was supposed to be released yesterday. On the forum at stevie-wonder.com, one of the members contacted apple/itunes about the release and said that it was changed and there will be a press conference about it today.

Apple is having a press event at 10 pacific/1 eastern. Possibly a video iPod. If this Stevie Wonder collection is being announced then, perhaps there will be a Stevie Wonder iPod? There is a rumor of a Madonna iPod.

Alright this is very strange. There's a description page in I-tunes but only three songs are available, none of them new. Here's what it says

The ultimate stevie wonder box set has arrived. Stevie's influential career has spanned funk, reggae, soul and rock and this mammoth Itunes-exclusive box set captures it all. Its 579 tracks represent 32 original albums including his latest A Time To Love along with ten out-of-print digitally exclusive records, the set also features one previously unreleased album "Workout Stevie, Workout", 61 rare original mono singles from the 60s, and 81 additional singles and rarities, more than 30 of them available digitally for the first time. Couple that huge music collection with three downloadable videos and a digital booklet of additional album art and you've got the finest box set ever from the musical genius Motown founder Berry Gordy called a "wonder". a note of caution; due to Stevie's prolific output, this box set may take a while to download.

Yeah, I think something's not working right. Those three things are videos, but there's nowhere to purchase the whole set. I'm curious about the price.

it must have taken a while to load all of the new content from today, but it's working right now - 582 tracks for $189.99. If you have iTunes, just click on this link

Man this is a disappointment, a lot of the songs you have to buy as part of the different subsets of the collection and there doesn't seem to be a lot of "Vault clearing" like we would have hoped.
