NIN - current tour with the newly sober TR

Saw NIN in LA last weekend at Hollywood Bowl. Autolux and Queens of the Stone Age opened... Autolux was the more interesting of the two, I thought - and more along the lines of NIN... shrug

Trent Reznor is no longer the pale-faced, skinny Goth caricature he once was... He is now totally buffed and muscular, w/ 3 plus years of sobriety under his belt and super short hair.. However, he still rocks the house, IMO. It's a good show - he plays a lot of the old NIN favorites and delivers them well. His latest CD "With Teeth" is not really a vast departure from his past musical accomplishments, it has only a handful of good songs which play better live than on CD.

Anyone else see the show?

Actually - I think they cancelled the SD show altogether because he became ill. Drummer Jerome Dillon started getting heart palpatations and it seems that he might have a serious heart condition. Trent posted that it is not a drug or alcohol problem - but they had to cancel the Sacramento show on 9/30 - and I was SHOCKED to see Jerome behind the drumsat Saturday's 10/01 Bowl show in LA... however the drummer from Perfect Circle was standing by to step in and may take over the drumming for the rest of the tour as well. shrug

NIN Drummer Jerome Dillon Leaves Tour
October 3, 2005

After two hospitalizations post-grueling US performances, Jerome Dillon has opted to leave the Nine Inch Nails/ Queens of the Stone Age tour. Dillon's health issues stem from a congenital heart condition, and he's currently undergoing tests. According to a statement from frontman Trent Reznor on the band's website, "At this present time, [Jerome's] performing live with us places him in a potentially very harmful situation." Reznor also reiterated that Dillon's problems are congenital, not acquired: "Dillon does not have a drinking or drug problem," Reznor expressed, "His illness is not the result of abuse, nor are there any purposefully vague statements about what's really going on with him. I am sure he is as frustrated and upset with the situation as everybody else." The two NIN performances that were postponed because of Dillon's illness have been rescheduled. The September 16 date in San Diego will be on November 20, while the September 30 Oakland date will be made up on November 19.

legna

I saw them Saturday as well and in May in San Diego and he is just SOLID. I only know about 6 of their songs, but to me it's energy that he demands from everyone in his midst. The SD gig was in a sweat box( SOMA) and it was bad-ass to hear nearly everyone sing/shoiut along. It was cool to have the Bowl mostly in black and singing. The video part in the middle is a great touch that he did back in '95/97 I think it was.

Funny - I saw them at SOMA in May as well... it was nice to see him in a smaller club setting - my bowl seats were a bit far from the stage (thank God for the four jumbo trons lol I agree - the video part was pretty cool. And I like his solo on piano for "Hurt."
