Madonna's "Everybody"

This is a great dance song. It's pretty amazing how Madonna can pull off dance music so effortlessly. Like it's in her blood. That's the reason I'm glad she's making her new album an all dance CD.

I don't think it was a major hit other than the dance charts and the NYC area, but it's still a classic to me.

I really wish Madge would go back to her roots and make her new album along the lines of her first one. She was at her best back then.

By the way, if you like her first album you really should get Alisha's. Do you remember her she had hits like, all night passion, baby talk, and too turned on. That album is smokin!

yes there is a very low budget video that was made for $1000. Seven years later Express Yourself cost 1million.

it is her on stage with brown short supsders with a plaid shirt under neath i believe with a little dutch boy hat. her hair is her natural color.

she is on stage at the Danceteria or was it some other gay club with Erica Bell and her brother Christopher doing a little dance while Erica and Chris hold flash lights. A very mix crowd is in the club dancing around too.

very rarely seen and shown on MTV for the first time in 1998 when they were doing a Madonna speical.

Everybody is the song responisble for getting Madonna signed on Sire, and really was the first time Madonna expressed her main mantra of her carear, Get Up and Do Your Thing.

It didn't have Madonna anywhere on the cover for the single but rather a painting of the streets of NY. released in October of 1982 as the first in a three single deal, that's all Maddy had to begin with. It peaked in Billboard at number 107, the only time she didn't crack the hot 100 and hit the dance charts at number 03. Mark Kamis produced the song and was solely written by Madonna. It later appeared as the last track on her album debut.

Madonna brought this song back in 87 with the You Can Dance lp with an extended mix track 3

She performed in on the Virgin Tour right after a racy talk about her boom box that she refered to just as her box that was special for everyone elses cause it made music. Which came right after Into the Groove.

The chorus was mixed in to the intro of Express Yourself on the Blonde Ambition Tour.

During the Girlie Show it was the last song. It started out with Sly and Family Stone's Everybody is a Star It contained elments of Marvin Gaye's After the Dance and Sly and Family Stone's Dance to the Music. It in my opinon was on of Madonna's best live performances. The engery, the band, and the dancers were unbelievable.

I think this is one of Madonna's finest moments, and I hope it is performed again on her next tour!

forgot something

Dance and Sing. Get Up and Do Your Thing. music

Its as if its a religious chant for all the people hugging the walls at the Danceteria. This is classic Madonna. Its almost like we can taster her breath when she sings the chorus, a very impassioned dance song and one of my favorites.

Another Madonna song that I like that isnt mentioned much is Physical Attraction. Thats the jam.

Looking at those picks it still cracks me up when Madonna refers to her Like A Virgin period as "When I was fat".

Madge weighed close to 130 pounds at the end of The Virgin Tour. After the tour concluded Mads started her fitness obession that has kept her between 105-110 for the past 20 years.

any chance someone could upload the video for Everybody on Yousendit or something and post it here? It's the only Madonna video I've never seen, been trying to track it down for years. I have everything except this and the holiday video, even the sex video!

Everybody is my number 1 Madonna song of all time, a lot of people have never heard the track tho.. I was in a club the other night and the DJ was playing just the bass from it on loop over something else, so I started singing along and this guy was like ' wow that sounds really good over this track' I didn't have the heart to tell him I was only singing the original!!

(Spoken:)
I know you've been waiting, yeah
I've been watching you, yeah
I know you wanna get up, yeah
Come on

Chorus:

Everybody, come on, dance and sing
Everybody, get up and do your thing
Everybody, come on, dance and sing
Everybody, get up and do your thing

Let the music take control
Find a groove and let yourself go
When the room begins to sway
You know what I'm trying to say

Come on, take a chance
Get up and start the dance
Let the D.J. shake you
Let the music take you

(chorus)

Let your body take a ride
Feel the beat and step inside
Music makes the world go 'round
You can turn your troubles upside down

Gonna have to change your mind
Gonna leave your troubles behind
Your body gets the notion
When your feet can make the motion

(chorus, repeat)

Dance and sing, get up and do your thing (repeat 3 times)

(Spoken:)
I know you've been waiting, yeah, yeah
I see you sitting there, I've been watching you
Across the room, yeah, yeah
I've been watching you, I see you sitting there by yourself
Yeah, yeah
Come on, come on, come on

(chorus)

Let the music take control
Find a groove and let yourself go
When the room begins to sway
You know what I'm trying to say

(chorus, repeat and fade)
[Dance and sing, get up and do your thing] (in background)
