What Band Represents the 00's? I would say it's a toss up between The Killers and Green Day. The Killers seem really promising and Green Day really set their place with "American Idiot". Any opinions?

out of the two mentioned..definitely Green Day. i think it's way too premature to nominate the Killers in this catagory.

Neither of them, thank you!
I'd go with The Strokes. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

Coldplay? Both will be remembered. I think Coldplay's gonna be like another U2 or R.E.M. They still need to put out that one genius album like how Green Day did with American Idiot. As for the White Stripes...Personally, I dont like them. I'll admit that they're very talented, it's just that their music doesnt strike me. Kinda like how some of u think Radiohead is overrated. With that said, they probably will also be remembered.

I'd go with The Strokes. For the first half, definitely. We'll see if they can keep it up.

all of those bands that sound like the same band with the whining pretty-boy alternating a quiet melodic verse with a screaming chorus. i'm sure you know the type. their names? hell if i know. "I don't need your forgiveness, cos I've been saved by Jesus, so fuck you."

Yeah...I would say White Stripes or The Strokes. But watch out for Kings of Leon and Queens of the Stone Age. Green Day has been rocking for much longer and has been very consistent for a decade.

How come I'm feeling like The Strokes were almost too "throwback" to define the "sound" of this era?

It's like when you see The Honeydrippers "Sea Of Love" on a Sounds Of The Eighties compilation. Isn't that the aesthetic of the 60s?

That's what this era is all about...."throwback". hehe so we're now openly acknowledging our "recycled" culture. that's a relief. *phew*

Even though they debuted in the 90s, I think OutKast represents the 00's.
That's still a fairly fresh sound, although everyone knows the `80s funk influence on Andre 3000.

Saying Green Day best represents the 00s is like saying Stevie Wonder best represents the 80s. Doesn't anyone remember all their 90s hits?

yeah Green Day is so `90s to me. I agree. American Idiot is their only huge album this decade. Green Day really made their presence known in the 90s. But hey, the decade is still relatively young. U never know what will happen.
