Free Legal Downloads I only know of ToneSpy, Download.com and Epitonic. Does anybody know of any others?
http://www.tonespy.com/ - It's all in German, but you'll work it out. Mostly electronica. http://www.epitonic.com/ - Tends to veer towards alternative music. http://music.download.com/ - Surprisingly varied in what you'll find here. Basically, Tonespy links to free songs on record companies' promo pages. It's all official and above board. Epitonic and Download.com actually license the tracks for free download. I'm unsure how they make money. Here's a selection of what's on offer at both sites at the minute...
