The Fragile by Nine Inch Nails

Though this is a good album, it's definitely not my favorite album. A bit too atmosperic and depressing for me. And in a way, I can see why it did disappointingly. Think about it: He hadnt released an album in five years, and when he does, it turns out to be a 2 CD set of soul wretching music. Aint gonna work.

With that said, I think it got an unfair bad rep. I never thought it was a bad album, it is pretty solid. It's just not my preference. I'll listen to it every so often, but usually I'll prefer either The Downward Spiral, Pretty Hate Machine or Broken. Hell, With Teeth has gotten more airplay on my radio.

What do you all think?

(btw, it is kinda interesting how Dr.Dre helped out with one of the trax. Both he and Trent are one of my favorite producers ever)

I did not think it was bad, not the best but not terrible. I just got a copy a few weeks ago. We have had it on for background music. I have yet to sit down and fully listen to it yet..

Looking back.. It did contain much filler.. it could have been a killer single album.. but its nice to have..

much to digest.. I dig it though

Yea I love that song as well. Other songs that stick out are "The Day The World Went Away", "We're In This Together", "The Fragile", "Into The Void" and "Starfuckers, inc."

Fuck "with-a teeth-a" ... The Fragile is a classic! I'll grant you that it's a long album (hell, on vinyl it's a 3 record set, with two MORE songs too) but it's just dripping with atmosphere. Some of his best songs ever. Sure, it's no PHM or Broken, but then what is?
Keep your headphones on.

I love The Fragile.

It's immersive and atmospheric. Pretty much every song is dripping with melody.

It's a beautiful album if you're patient enough to let it inside your mind.
