Going to see JM3 in Atlanta next week.

I've seen Mayer live on 2 other occasions, and he was simply outstanding. I must admit to being somewhat surprised at his musicianship the first time I saw him. He's not just a "singer/songwriter" type, and he's not just another "good" guitarist. He is on a higher level than the general public realizes.

So, I'm taking a cousin who couldn't stand Mayer... up until I played him some new live stuff last week.

He first guessed it was Stevie Ray Vaughn, and I let him go on thinking that for a few minutes.

Then I told him it was John Mayer. The look on his face was priceless.

Needless to say, he jumped at the chance to go to the show.

As hard as it might be for some people to wrap their heads around, this guy is a real musician. I would highly recommend catching this guy live if you get the chance.

I got a few JM3 boots...and you're right. It does sound quite like stevie ray vaughan. This guy has got to be on of the most underestimated artists out there. Imho the eric calpton or bob dylan of my generation. Can't wait for the jm3 album to drop...that 'll sure open a lot of eyes, and drop a lot of jaws!

enjoy the show btw. Wish I ever get the chance to see them. Since his audience in the netherlands seems to be growing he might swing by europe again someday.

I love the new trio with drummer Steve Jordan and bassist Pino Palladino-- gives him a chance to really show what he can do, and with two world class musicians to bounce off ....does anyone know if they will be recording an album as a trio, or is this just for the tour?

... biggrin Slammin' track, by the way....

as far as i know this is the first single from an upcomming album. haven't seen a release-date yet though.

I was just listening to a show from 06-09-05 and I loved him before but after hearing that i absolutley worship the ground he walks on: he said inbetween two songs "Are there people in the audience taping this? *cheers* good cause we need this music to get around!". That just shows what kinda man he is, no?

As for the video, I don't know if it will get much airplay,...but who cares. I think it's one heck of a statement. Nobody who's thinking of sales would release a video like that. It shows where his mind is at: Music, music and music.

Now if only he could call III and record something with him the world would be perfect!

You know, I was really into John Mayer for a while and was able to see him live twice. I got a bit burned out as he was so over-hyped. IN spite of the burn-out factor, I still have immense respect for him and think he's a brilliant musician. He's one of the few younger artists that gives me actual hope for the future of music.

So, while I've been taking a break from him for my sanity. I still anticipate that he will again produce some music that I can't ignore....

From what I understand, they are going to release a live album in November, and John's new CD will be out in early '06.
