Up For The Down Stroke 
The song itself, not the album.. ooooowhhhhheeeee!!!! 
MAN!!! I would love to have been in the studio when they recorded this groove... 
Especially towards the end, when they are really gittin into it... A funky chant, with a throbbin' groove that could wake up the dead... The beginning of the signature P-Funk sound.... A whole new thang was happening back then... Something totally different at that time... Funkateers United!!!!

Good pick..I remember when I heard the breakdown in the middle I thought my record player was skipping..then I realized their beats were just "behind the beat". Grat song and LP. I love the 1974 commercial for the LP. George borrowed Gene Simmons' (KISS) boots for the ad. | |

George struttin' through the streets in a Dracula cape and Stacks, with his Ghetto Blaster pumping "Up for the Downstroke", picking up funkateers along the way, and leadin' them into the record shop..... ...
