no no no...Hot Topic is THE shit. Thank God for it. In a world where your "blackness" is often associated with a fitted cap and 10 shirts and 52 waist jeans, i GLADLY prance my ass into a Hot Topic and buy me some rock tees. I'll be damned if i'm gonna look like anybody around here. Im in the US at the moment i've been to hot topic. It's very kid orientated and the kind of people who shop there seem to be the type who say "I'm an individual, leave me alone" type who then go on and wear what everyone else is wearing. I think that's the whole irony of it all. As for the T Shirt thing, it is really hallowed ground for me. It's like supporting a football team, you don't around wearing a teams colors when you don't like them. Fashionista's are so shallow it's staggering and further proof that all that making a statement stuff is a load of old bollocks.

UncleGrandpa said: I'm sure we've all seen someone wearing a concert tee shirt of a singer or group that doesn't fit their personality or music taste, so you or I may make the conclusion that this person doesn't know anything about that band, they're a poser. What group or singer has the most popular tee shirt out that is nothing more than a fashion statement?
Examples: AC/DC - Back In Black, The Beatles, The Ramones, Led Zeppelin etc... though you're not limited to the choices given. Well, looks can be deceiving. For example, a friend of mine went to an industry party at the Country Music Hall of Fame. He was one of the few black industry folks at the party and happened to run into Hank Williams, Jr. As it turns out, Bocephus -- Mr. Are You Ready For Some Football/If the South Would Have Won . . . -- was a veritable font of information on jazz, blues and r&b. You never know. The kid in the throwback could be a Phil Collins fan and the soccer mom in the Voyager van could be a PE fan. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

I have a drawer full of band/concert tees.
My rule-of-thumb is I only buy tees at the gig and never at retail outlets(unless it's an ultra-critical longtime hard-to-find fave like Funkadelic or Living Colour). test

It's so funny because when I read the topic of this thread I immediately thought of Ashlee Simpson. Not only has she worn all these shirts, one of her bubbly "friends" had on a Ramones T-shirt. And when I saw Ashlee sporting an Adam Ant T-shirt she had me chomping at the bit as to where she found it. But yeah she's a poser for sure.

I go there sometimes for video game and cartoon T-shirts. I'm not a fan of their music shirts though. I did see a James Brown, Billie Holiday, and Robert Johnson shirt yes....Robert Johnson....in Hot Topic. They had a few Bob Marley shirts, but I figured a lot of people would be into his shirts regardless if they even like his music or message. btw....Bob will never go out of style "as prince goes poom poom poom poom

I have a Prince one. and a Cinister Cee one
My friend Adrian has a Bob Marley shirt which is great because Adrian knows all about rocksteady/reggae/dub and owns tons of that music. But I often spot Bob Marley shirts being worn by people that aren't fans. [Edited 9/16/05 13:16pm]
