So who here is hip to Antibalas? I first bumped into them in Paris, France, where their music felt like it was right at home, blasting out of the system of the Champs Elysees Fnac.
Much to my surprise this band is American. They take their musical cues from American funk as well as from Fela Kuti's Afrobeat. Put on their 2002 Talkatif album and feel yourself dancing in your own living room! Their music is vibrant and bumpy. Lyrically, think The Last Poets, esp on their 2004 outing Who Is This America? But best is their live album Liberation Afro Beat, Vol. 1 from 2001, as they are known for their live work, which is amazing. GO check this band out!

I've seen 'em a couple of times on a festival bill or as an opening act. They are great. I love a tightly arranged large group and they are very very funky! test
