his talent lies in marketing.you have to give him credit for that, plus he gets the hottest singers and rappers to guest star for him. yes 0 talent,100 in music business!

He may have no talent but he's a smart mf! After watching his Behind the Music thingy on VH-1, I realized that P. Diddy works hard and plays hard and I can't be mad at him for that. So hate on him if you will but that brotha is worth over 200 million (between Bad Boy and Sean John) and plus.....his collabos lately aren't too bad with Busta and some others.....I like the remix of Lights, Camera, Action and Special Delivery.....with Puff

Don't hate the playa.....hate the mutha fuckin' GAME!!! pimp

Sean is just playing the game!

"He gets the hottest singers and rappers to guest star with him"

Exactly! Everytime he puts out a new record,it is FILLED with other artists,so what exactky does HE do? He's not much of a rapper, and his "production skills" consist of sampling, sampling and more sampling. If he were to put out a song WITHOUT all the guest stars,do you think it would even sell? His latest single "I Need A Girl" is only a hit because of Usher appearing on it.

His lyrics are jackass shit, he's an ugly bastard, and I think he dances like a chode...but the man knows what's up in the business world and has done his thing exceptionally well. You can't hate on him for that. Wish him only continued success, because Puff is proof that even those of us with absolutely no talent can get the bills paid wink

Wanna hear something funny? In my area (SF Bay Area),P.Diddy was scheduled to perform on the "Bomb 2002" concert June 13,along with Ja Rule,Ashanti,Fat Joe,Naughty By Nature, and others. This concert is being presented by radio station KYLD.Well, according to the station, many fans were calling in COMPLAINING about P.Diddy being on the bill,so guess what? They kicked him off the bill, and added Usher and E-40 instead!!!

But,if you still wanna see Puffy, you can catch him opening(!) for N'Sync on their current tour;)

The song as far as tributes go, it was fine...but 2 fuck up a Police song (with Sting's blessing, no less!) is unjustifiable.

I think at the Grammy's Sting even played bass and sung with P. Diddy & Faith Evans on that song...WTF??

As far as P.Diddy's talent...producing is a talent...rapping is a talent. I just don't care 4 his style and continued "thug" life...which is why J.Lo probably left him.

At their celebrity status, who the fuck wants 2 get involved with a guy who still carries around a gun in2 a club?

There's brilliance...and there's stupidity...is it possible 2 have both?

P.Diddy edited this post...but it says I did.

"producing IS a talent"

I've never understood how P.Diddy became such a successful hip-hop "producer".All he does is sample old songs from the 80s,in a very sloppy,cheap-sounding way.On the Biggie song "Mo Money,Mo Problems",he just loops a part of the 1980 Diana Ross hit "I'm Coming Out".He keeps her voice on the track, and has Kelly Price sing over it...where's the "talent" in that? I realize that most hip-hop IS sampling, but P.Diddy takes it to the extreme, imo.

"rapping IS a talent"

Can Puffy even rap? I've never heard ANYBODY praise him for his rapping skills. He must not think too much of his own skills,either....every song he does features "guest stars" who almost always outshine him.His early singles featured Mase and Biggie, his new singles feature Usher,Ginuwine, and anyone else he can invite to the party...lol...

Hey DavidEye

Diddy has not written any of the raps he has performed. He hires ghost writers to create his lyrics.

Anyone saw the interview with Daddy where he told he was supposed 2 collaborate with MJ on Invincible, but MJ kicked him out of the studio after a week bcause MJ had no appreciation whatsoever 4 Puffy's production skills.

As far as P. Diddy goes, I agree with u more than I dis-agree with u, DavidEye...

I'm just saying there has 2 b some degree of talent 2 get where he has...and remain there....it's probably in those peeps with whom he surrounds himself.

'nuff said.

He is a smart business man but, he has no musical talent whatsoever. He has done more to hurt black music than anyone else I can think of. Everybody samples entire songs instead of creating anything new. Thank god we have some neo-soul acts coming out and doing well. These acts have saved black music from no-talent bums like Puffy. The re-mix record is number one because Puffy has been hanging around the teen groups and picking up a young white teen audience. If a urban audience called the radio station and demanded that he be removed from a urban concert his credibilty with black people is going out the window. He also has said he would like to take his record company independent. We will see how sucessful he is at that (LOL)

EXACTLY!

About time someone caught that (Hell, that's why I bought the joint). $8.99. why u thing Musiq's CD went to #1? Which goes back to the point made earlier, the Diddy is a music (biz) genius. His biggest talent is his savy. He spots trends and capitalizes on the. (Hello? Ever heard of 'Dream'?) Diddy has been doing this since the early 90's and hasn't stopped yet. He's simply out manuvered, out smarted, and out hustled everyone out there.

Nope, can't rap for nothin', nope, can't play instruments too well, nope, can't sing nothin but 'Thasright', and'C'mon' and 'Unh'. But he knows when a joint is hot and jumps on it. Then he promotes it like the Tazmanian Devil and just watches the dough roll in.

Diddy has been all over the place these past few weeks. Everywhere you turn, there he is. I even thought I saw him in My bathroom the other night when I was taking a dump. But that's another story.

Madonna did it, Prince tried it, Diddy's mastered it.

The Magic word?

MARKETING!

P.Diddy's produced some solid remixes. He works better with other artists and as a remixer, because his primary role is a producer.

As a rapper he's hardly the best, but put one of his tunes on in a club or a party and it has the desired effect.

As for him success being down to marketing file under;

Michael Jackson and Madonna

two artists who have (nearly zero musical talent) and who's 15 minutes was over 15 years ago. Madonna just cynically and heartlessly reinvents herself with a 'hip' pre-prepared look and sound on each outing and MJ is stuck in a bad 80's timewarp.

I'd rather listen to P.Diddy rapping on 'Pass the Couvesieur' (quite a nice tune may I add) than watch MJ in yet another 'new' video wearing white socks and fighting a rival gang in a bar.

LOL...Madonna's "15 minutes of fame were over 15 years ago?" Don't you wish?! Madonna is one of the FEW artists from the 80s who has been able to substain her success. And if you think P.Diddy has more talent than MJ,that just shows your musical ignorance, not to mention a lack of taste:)

I never stated that P.Diddy was more talented than M.J, so don't put words in my mouth. I merely stated that I would rather watch P.Diddy than have to endure yet another recycled MJ video in which he fights a rival gang in a bar and breaks a few glasses.

I didn't state that Madonna hadn't managed to maintain her success. She clearly has, through good marketing and fashionable choices in production, rather than any genuine creative instinct nor love or passion for her art.

I just find it strange that you're willing to condemn P.Diddy for using the same sales techniques as two of your favourite artists.

Funny, that you label me 'musically ignorant' for (allegedly) thinking that P.Diddy has more musical talent than M.J, when you are the very one who has consistently accussed me of musical snobbery when I have stated that Prince's musical abilities FAR outweigh M.J's.

Oh by the way, M.J asked P.Diddy to produce his 'Invincible' album, but P.Diddy refused. That says everything really doesn't it?

This is not true at all. Listen to her albums, and then tell me that she isn't passionate about it. She writes the songs. She plays instruments. She comes up with the ideas for her videos. She works for everything she has.
