Michael Jackson Fans Unite Against Evil!!!

Fans of Michael Jackson are planning a protest against Sony Records because Sony has discontinued promotion for Invincible, Jacksons latest CD. They are upset because SIX MONTHS of promotion is not enough in their opinion.
Reality check time for MJ fans!!!

I think six months promotion is pretty generous of Sony. It must have been obvious shortly after the cd was released that they did not have the blockbuster they expected.

u can promote that album all day and all night, and the fact is, it's horrible! I don't know why they bothered promoting it in the first place!

There is a great remix of Butterflies floating around on the internet; however... but that isn't on the album, so Piss on it!

On their opinion, Invincible is a very good album. I listened to it and I agree with you. Invincible is shit, but...
We should learn something from these MJ fans, don't you think?

I think the quality of the record is irrelevent - no amount of promotion is going to make people buy something they don't want.

It had nothing to do with the album being shitty or people not wanting it. Check the link for the details. There's even a slight mention about Prince.

All we could learn from them is how to live in deep, DEEP denial.

The worst "positivity" zombies on the .org look positively clear-headed and well-adjusted compared to the MJ "don't believe all those crazy horrible rumors" brigade.

Michael should have done a completely different music video for "You Rock My World". The images of the video do not depict the song at all. Keep Chris Tucker in the video, but come up with a different concept. Chris and Michael could have been cruisin' around in the summertime in a flashy convertible with their tank tops on and a pair of jeans or something.....and Mike could have been on a cell phone looking cool. They just drive by some fine looking women and one captures Mike's eye.

Sorta like Janet Jackson's video "You Want This".

I think Michael should have released "Butterflies" as the second single rather than "Cry". Actually he shouldn't have even released "Cry". He could have released a single for "Unbreakable", or "Invincible".

The album in general shouldn't have had so many ballads. He should've hooked up with Prince and wrote a track for the album.

If that got out publicly it would have been cool publicity.

That's true, unfortunately. Just look at some of the things that's been said about him on the org. Maybe we went through one to many changes with Prince.

Yes, but you forget that they are mostly teenagers and NOT all of them are stupid or ignorant.

From what I read, this goes much deeper than the quality of Invincible.
This is more about Sony wanting Mike to give up his share of those Beatles publishing catalogues so they can have it all.
Even a bad MJ album would normally yield more than one video. You Rock My World, Buttereflies, Invincible are jamz. I'm not so hot on the rest. Still, Sony could have done more to promote the good that was on the album, IMHO.
There's more to story than the perceived quality of the album.

Peace

It's very difficult for me to even grasp Jackson's mentality, much less that of his fans.

It seems like the farther away we get from "Thriller"- in terms of time passed- the more Jackson's fans (or Jackson himself?) seem to have these huge, often UNREASONABLE expectations for his once-every-5-years-if-you're-lucky releases.

Jackson (seemingly privately) & his fans (usually publicly) have this thing in them that the next album is going to be as "good" as "Thriller," or at least have as many sales. While the former is certainly possible, the latter is HIGHLY UNLIKELY.

Jackson & his fans really should realize that the sales for "Thriller" were truly ONCE IN A LIFETIME. Maybe some other performer will 1 day release an album that sells more than 40 million units worldwide, but it won't be Jackson again.

Of course, his fans- like anyone else- can do whatever they want; if they want to protest & picket & whatever, they can certainly go right ahead. Doing that kind of thing would hardly change the powers that be at Sony & whatever decisions they'd make, nor would it likely give a boost to sales. They should just stop whining & enjoy the music
(have I heard that somewhere else before?????)

"Thriller" was truly a once in a lifetime phenomenon (thank goodness.) Looking at how Jackson's life changed after it, how he changed himself, 1 can wonder if all that was worth it, or at least wonder how he might have stayed more "normal" had he not had such a huge COMMERCIAL success..

That said, of the few songs I've heard from "Invincible".. I DO like "Butterfly," mainly because I think it will be a good rhythm to rollerblade by..

To all the Jackson fans who plan to protest (or whatever..)
GOOD LUCK
(you're going to need it)
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

Did anyone see the MJ concert show last fall on CBS? Except for the celebrities, every older fan they showed in the crowd seemed seriously messed up. Or maybe I'm just reading too much into it.

I will say, by chance or design, there were quite a few young honeys in the MSG that night. Like HE gave a shit...

If you believe this Make INVINCIBLE VISIBLE theory one thing is clear - Michael Jackson has no power with Sony Records. They controlled what the singles were, they controlled the budget for the videos, they control whether or not a cd single gets released. Jackson is powerless except to say no to touring. The King of Pop has a cardboard crown.

People! As much as Prince is the one that gets my energy, why are you all tripping on Michael Joseph Jackson?

Think about the facts:

1. Everyone I know on Sony, hates their CONTRACT. Geffen had to buy George Michael's freedom. $20 Million; Jamiroquai is trying to complete HIS (JK) eight albums so he can be free.

2. Sony, like WB believes MJs CDs will sell because of his name alone. Those days are over! It's two generations later that's buying music and they only want HIP HOP.

3. If Sony, wanted my Beatles catalog, I would break that contract in a second. MJs Beatle catalog is worth more than all the royalties gets from his album sells. Remember, he didn't start writing a lot of his stuff until BAD.

Record Labels are criminal and this MJ vs Prince CRAP needs to stop. HELL this is 2002 not 1982. 20 years! give it a rest!
