No worries. The more discussion about good music, the better.

If you like LCD, you'd LOVE !!!

Hard to describe, but they're an extremely funky and danceable punk band that just happens to be political and have a horn section.

If you get their last album "Louden Up Now", you won't be able to stop playing it. It's so fresh and exciting. I highly recommend it. wink

Hmm, listened to it about 5 times now and I think it's a good song.
The only thing that I don't like too much is the instruments they
use. What kind of bland soundwall is that going on there? If they
would have simply gone back and used some of those 80's synths and
drumpatterns on it, the song would have rawked.

I think it's pretty vintage eurythmics, but the instruments are eh
well crap to be honest. The vocals are very good!

all in all, at least 3 stars for this one.

Ah.
The overdose of coffee has gotten to you...

To me she just tries to shout so hard to cover up the entire song (except maybe that indeed vintage melody) ermmmm, sucks.

the thing that bugs me most about their compilations
is that they include the horrible "I Need A Man" and
decide to completely ignore their first album when a
song like "Never Gonna Cry Again" would kick of this
compilation so much better.

My reaction to this news is mixed. It is great that they got together at all, let alone she "stayed" with him and actually wrote and recorded two new songs. But why not put them toward a full album of new material, even if it meant staying with each other more?

True fans, as many have said here, already have ALL of this "Ultimate Collection" material. We bought it the first time around and then did it again with the double live album and then the "Greatest Hits."

Considering 1999's "Peace" was a long-overdue reunion of sorts, you have to admit that their sound was VERY different (more acoustic and rock) than ever before. Gone were much of the synthesizer hooks, abandoned were Annie's androgynous fits (where she peels off a wig and smears her make-up), and Dave's playing lacked the unique "virtuoso" of genius he'd maintained throughout Eurythmics itself. It's nice to have two songs from "Peace" added to a collection just for the sake of continuity, but now with NEW songs that are unlikely to sound like classic Eurythmics tracks... I'd rather have TWO DISCS. One of material before "Peace" and another CD that included the two latest songs and more. How about simply including the un-released new material the duo has chosen not to release? What about a box set (like 12 discs with everything: remastered releases, out-takes, rarities, remixes, and new Eurythmics material)?

Dear Annie,

Don't stop. You have the music in you, girl! Keep working on a new solo disc. Just because you put out two songs on a recycled greatest hits package, have just released a killer song on the new Herbie Hancock CD (it really is excellent!), have won an Academy Award, are now over the age of 50, and sang your heart out on tour with Sting, and did a f*ck*ng brilliant performance at the piano during the "Live 8" concert, fans still want more!

lol

I like "I Need A Man". The video puts it over the top for me.

But yeah, In the Garden is sorely neglected. It's still probably my favorite Eury album.

Both LCD Soundsystem and Louden Up Now are great albums!

LCD Soundsystem is their first proper release, although the second disc consists of orphaned singles that were released prior to this album.

Keep in mind this is a taped audio from a radio show- the actual instrumentation likely sounds much better. nod

yeah, the first 4 albums, to me, are the essence of Eurythmics. Be Yourself Tonight - as good as it was - took them in a different direction, and it was never the same again. It was a move they HAD to make, to stay relevent. Looking back, I can see that. But at the time, I was very disappointed.

Perfectly said!

Amen to that! nod

Off topic a bit - - i've always thought that Paint a Rumour is an underrated song. It should have been a single. I know, I know... but edit it at about 3:30, and damn. it's a tight, different, funky song. It would have really worked as a single. thoughts?

"Paint a Rumour" is my favorite song on Touch and among my top 100 songs of all time. It's an all time classic for sure!
