Am I the only one who's found this song, especially the extended mix, rubbish? It's a classic, but Donna's done far better (then again, these were the early days)

I love this version and now I finally have it thanks to Finess and David Eye. That damn record store took it's own sweet time when I ordered it. It didn't come for about three months but it did finally come and it was worth the wait. Andy is a four letter word.

So true. I couldn't believe it. I had searched for years thinking it was a 12 Inch. Andy is a four letter word.

Not enough lyrics to carry through 16 mins! I prefer a version I have that goes for under 3mins!

Yeah, that's another thing I love about the 70s.Back then, artists would put the long version right there on the album. You didn't have to go out and buy the 12".The song "Love To Love You Baby" is over 17 minutes long and it takes up the entire Side One of Donna's album! Isaac Hayes is another artist who was known for making lengthy, neverending songs ("Do Your Thing" from the 'Shaft' soundtrack is over 20 minutes long).

btw,Donna's first three albums have been remastered.Read about it here...

One annoying thing about Donna's early records is that she clearly wasn't giving her all, vocally. She was singing (mostly moaning) in a low, sexy, whispery voice. This was a calculated move, and it was a part of the "sex goddess" image she was portraying at the time.As a result, many people didn't think she could sing. But thankfully,by the late 70s,she began singing with the full power of her voice. It's hard to believe that the same singer who moaned her way through "Love To Love You Baby" in 1975 is the same vocalist who sang her ass off on "MacArthur Park" just a few years later.

I believe Ive mentioned it here before, but Ive always wondered about that. Her vocals on LTLYB sound like a different person than on her later work. Actually,I prefer the moaning she does on her 1976 remake of Barry Manilow's "Could It Be Magic".She sounds like she is really getting into it...

She has often said that, when she recorded "LTLYB",she was imagining Marilyn Monroe singing these lyrics. That's why her vocals are low and seductive, like Marilyn.
