Thoughts on Damita Jo I thought this was an alright album. Not really close to her best, but it did have some great trax like "All Nite", "R&B Junkie" and "Strawberry Bounce". All it needed was a serious edit on some of the midtempo songs.
The reasons it flopped? 1.Nipplegate 2.MTV's sabotage(tho they'll never admit it) 3.Bad promotion on Virgins part(they didnt even know what the fucking first single was!) Had these circumstances not happened, it might have performed better. what do u all think? Also, what do u think are the chances of Janet next CD doing well? I think she'll be alright if she sticks to making funky pop jams ala janet and The Velvet Rope. Just hope Jermaine Dupri doesnt fuck it up as exec. producer

I don't think she's done anything good since "Velvet Rope".
What she should do is stop sampling from old songs so much and get Jam and Lewis to create some original shit for her. Or maybe even try taking on a new musical direction, which I doubt will happen. And this whole overtly sexual image she's putting on is just ridiculous. She's pushing 40 now and (yes, while she still looks fine as hell) so she should leave that up to her clones. It just takes away from the music. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

We have talked about this album to death but In my case yeah it is a good album until Warmth goes off then it gets lost..then comes out of the dark when "Just A Little While" comes on Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

I do agree that she should tone down the sampling, or at least make it a bit discreet and not obvious like "Son of A Gun". As for her sexual image, eh, whatever. She still has a great body, and if she wants to express her sexuality instead of compromise herself to what people think a 40 year old woman should look like, hey, who am I to kill the buzz? At least she's not a PR nightmare like Michael. She can make a comeback with a few right moves, but Michael, YIKES!

"Thoughts" and "Damito Jo" should never be in the same sentence.

Heck, forget even the age: You'd think people would simply be tired of the same old, same old. She comes off as tired and desperate, not liberated, expressive, and titillating in her sexuality.

Jam and Lewis used to be great producers, but they started running out of ideas about ten years ago.Their sound is stale and uninspired.Nowadays, they have to rely on sampling, which is sad considering that they are actually musicians.
