PrintableThese are all really beautiful. I just got a CD burner and access to Itunes so maybe I can begin exploring. I haven't done any compilation projects for years, though I used to as a kid. When I was young my dad worked in a record store and would assemble the top 40 hits on cassette for me. 
Since I watch a lot of movies, I track them throughout the year and make a Top 10 finale list at the end of the year. Kind of geeky, but it makes me happy.  | |

I too used to make obsessively intricate CD projects. My burner crapped out on me last year, so I haven't done one in quite a while. Sucks, because I had a whole lot of cool stuff planned. If I had a scanner, I'd share with you some of them. The last big one I worked on was a seven disc Depeche Mode remix set called Mixes for the Masses

Please tell me more. Well my friend basically recorded some songs on his keyboard, some damn good ones! And he wasnt planning to do anything with them, so i said it would be cool to record a few more and make an album . So thats what we're doing, and im like the producer and deciding alot of stuff for it like tracklisting etc. Recording has been put on hold for the minute tho due to lack of equipment. Can't wait to see it. Did you use only official stuff? Did you include b-sides and multiple remixes for the same song? How did you organize them? I want to do a set for New Order and Bjork too. Maybe a few others. I've already got some smaller sets for Tori and Tricky. | |

Im gonna do an album of my own tho quite soon, and will try to get that released! Plus I got some people onto Jeremy jordans album. Even donny osmond! Now that was tough. Getting someone to hear a donny track was hard work, but he liked it. Its funny as people really have forgotten about this sorta newjack/pop. And woudl not dare buy it as the covers are so cheesy. I do hip people to the sorta shit I always rant on about here. It does feel good. Only person on here I have sent music too was paisleypark4life. And as the tracklisting got lost, he cant tell me if he liked any of it or not. But I dony think he did. Which is fine. Joking aside, it's really cool that U do that 4 folks. It's rare that some1 of your age would remember any of that stuff, since it so clearly defines a time in music that was very short (as trends go). Like exact chord voicings on guitar (if I have to learn/write a song), playing songs I like 10/20 times in a row for days on end, why certain arrangements work, how to improvise lines rather than play licks. Weird stuff like that.
I can relate. Although I'm in a bit of a musical dry spell lately, so I've been freed of that curse, at least temporarily. Betcha it comes back with a vengeance.
