Diana Ross movies finally coming to DVD

Lady Sings the Blues and Mahogany coming to DVD on November 8th.
It's about freakin' time.

I'm not a huge Diana fan, but I do love these films.

Mahogany

DESCRIPTION

When a successful fashion photographer discovers a fresh new face, he quickly turns her into the hottest commodity in the industry. Overwhelmed by her rapid rise to the top, the young woman finds that money and fame aren't always the keys to personal happiness. But her love affair with a dashing political aspirant points to a way out of the superficial merry-go-round.
A young black woman rises to fame and fortune as a fashion model, only to later discover that life is meaningless without the man she loves. Academy Award Nominations: Best Song ("Theme from Mahogany - Do You Know Where You're Going To?")

Tony Richardson directed the project until being relieved of his duties by Berry Gordy, who finished the film himself and signed his name to it.

DESCRIPTION

Diana Ross made her film debut opposite Billy Dee Williams in this romantic biopic. LADY SINGS THE BLUES captures the essence of Billie Holliday in this semi-biographic sketch of the tragic life of the famous blues singer. Academy Award Nominations: 5, including Best Actress--Diana Ross, Best (Original) Screenplay, Best Song Score.

I love these two movies and have a copy of them on VHS that I am satisfied with. Thanks for the info though. I wish Diana would release a collection of her music videos as a solo artist and some of the old performances with The Supremes.

I know, right? I can't wait for that one. Diana looks so much like my mom in that movie it's scary.

Thank you Lord, for making Lady Sings The Blues available on DVD in November. I have that movie on VHS and the sad part is since the movie is so long (over 2 1/2 hours), the movie stretches out on two whole VHS tapes. I'm tired of switching and rewinding them. I hope there are great extras like a Making Of-documentary or trailers or even bonus scenes.

'Fool'? Pardon me?

Yes, you are right - it is Double Platinum. Shows how much I watch it, then!

(And, er, I already have it on video. I won't be wasting any shelf space with the dvd. razz ).
