Scary Funk song 4 yall: "Freddy's Dead" - Curtis Mayfield Just imagine:
In a hauntingly ghetto busted down apartment building in 1977, a man sitting with the heroin needle and the brown dirty strap hose tight on his arm. The vein sticking out. The spoon on the table, newspaper scattered around..dark with only light coming from a rusted bulb which is turning yellow in the bathroom. The brown old record player is playing this song in the background and he starts rocking back and forth slowly looking crazy from the after effects... Freddy's...dead.. I havent heard this song really in over 10 years, but another scary deep funk song came on the radio and made me post this... [Edited 9/1/05 0:49am] Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

I like it because it advocates sobriety. "If you wanna be a junkie - wow"
Very cool message, and not watered down.

BK, this song definitely brings the 70's Mack Period in music. Curtis had a flare for capturing the pulse of the street.

That is a scary song. I must've been 7 when it first came out on the radio. I used to ask my parents "Why is Freddie dead?" and start cryin. Love the song now, but it did have an eerie feelin when I was young.
