It costs money to leave. It costs money for gas, food, and a motel/hotel for who knows how long. If I lived in New Orleans, I probably would have been one of those that went to the Superdome because I wouldn't have had that kind of money to get out. Yes, there are a few that refused to leave because they didn't believe it was going to be so bad but the majority didn't have the money to leave.

As for Bush taking so long to respond, if it was rich white Republicans that were stupid enough to vote for his sorry ass, he would have been there the very next day. The only reason he's sending people in there now is because it would look bad if he didn't. If he had his way, he wouldn't do anything.

I dont think u can blame poor ppl for not moving they dont have the resources. Its just the sad part of life

nod Agreed. Between shows like Bill Mahers and Kayne's protest, the revolution is being televised and I say dammit's about time.

I remember PRINCE saying how much he liked Bill Mahers show a few Years back. Im sure PRINCE stopped watching BILL as soon as BILL pointed out how stupid Religion is and how people are Brainwashed into believing in it.

i'm sorry- whether mr. west is right (which i believe he is) or wrong, this is not the place to start this fight. how about helping those who need help? this isn't his platform- it's theirs. people who go on national television and play the race card in situations like this obviously have nothing pertinent to add to the situation. you want to say it on an album? please do. in an interview? absolutely. again, i agree with him. bush is an asshole- but don't take the focus off of those starving and dying due to a national disaster to say something off topic.

Exactly but that is what is wrong with this Country, if this happened in England there wouldnt be a "race" battle. Im not saying there shouldnt be talk of this, lets be honest, 98% of the area Hit the hardest were Black, and most of New Orleans live in Poverty, they make an average of 8,000 a year!! Had this been a wealthy "whiter" area like Florida, relief would have been there day one. The Biggest problem with this is nobody in GOVT will admit that the BIG reason why releif and the National Guard wasnt there, is because they are all in IRAQ fighting the MOST USELESS WAR in history! I think right now EVERY soldier over there should put there Guns away and say "F.U. Bush" and get on a Plane and desert the Army and get back here and Help. But i think a better POINT that was made by BILL MAHER and ERIC DYSON just a few moments ago, "people dieing are people dieing" whether they are Black, white, whatever or whatever country they are in. The point is in america its all "ME ME ME", we really dont care about the next person.

doesn't hurt to have his brother as govenor in florida....Iraq is a mess and there is no way to get out fast enough without losing credibility

How do we know he's not dipping into his own money to help out? Would it be tackier if he sat around bragged about how much he donated? Isn't it good that he's calling out the root of the problem, racist politicans? And why is it so bad for an artist to want to succeed and, at the same time, have a political voice in the process?

nod A friend of mine told me that there was a plan in place to repair the levies so that they wouldn't break in the event of a catastrophe like this. She told me that Bush cancelled the plan, and spent the money that would have been used for the repairs for (I think) the Iraqi war (not sure what she told me now, probably because I was pissed when she told me about it).

If he did he would say it..has he yet??? The problem will all these people in the music business today (dixie chicks/ p-diddy..) Is that the feel their voices are bigger than the problem. Would you listen to a Kanye if he was not in the music business

I will go back well over 30 years with this, Elvis Presely was once asked about his views on the Vietnam war, his response "he is an entertainer, and rather keep his personal views to himself". Perfect.

The bottom line if all the "entertainers" today want to express themselves which is fine, do something other than play "monday morning quaterback" and tell us what most of us seem to know all ready. Why not run for a political office, if they are popular as they say they should have no problem getting elected. They won't do it, for the obvious reason...

I will admit this, at the start of the war I supported it, i thought let's find those WMD's get Hussien out of there, but we still have found nothing, as an american I feel lied to, this is what our president said was there. When was the last time you ever heard about WMD's on the news??? Bush will try to put 9/11 on this war, but it was already proven that Iraq had NOTHING to do with 9/11. So we waste billions of dollars over there for a country that hates us, our soldiers are dying and for what??? We have people who live in poverty, an educational system that is failing, gas prices that are over $4. Our focus should be on the US, let us take a vacation from the rest of the world.
