Rank the tracks from Like A Virgin Like A Virgin--1984--the album that made Madge a household name:
I love this record. I didn't really listen to it until the mid-90s when I discovered gems like 'Love Don't live here anymore' and 'stay' meanwhile 'dress you up' is in my top 10 madonna tracks of all time the only thing that would make it better would be adding 'into the groove' which technically was not on the first print it also contains the only song Madonna has had sole writing credit on 1984--a ballad i like A LOT 'shoo be doo' my faves (from best to worst): 1. dress you up 2. angel 3. stay 4. love don't live here anymore 5. shoo-be-doo 6. like a virgin 7. over and over 8. material girl 9. pretender I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

some trivia about this album...
***This album was finished MONTHS before it was actually released.Warners were anxious to release it,but there was one problem: Madonna's first album was still selling. Her single "Borderline" was riding high on the charts, and so they decided to hold back 'Like A Virgin' until the hoopla from the first album finally died down.Madonna was pissed about this. ***"Material Girl" was written by Peter Brown. Those of you who were around in the 70s will remember him as the guy who had the huge disco hit "Dance With Me" in 1978.

I don't have the "Into The Groove" verison (I saw it in Europe and should have bought...I don't have anything with the original "Into The Groove" on it!) but if I did, it would be topping my list, no question.

Davideye, where is your list! ![]() Why was Madonna pissed about holding the album? It makes sense since the first was still selling. I'm always suprised to hear her debut (I remember it was not as easy to find as the ohter albums and I wanted to buy it really bad) was that popular but with songs like "Lucky Star", it makes sense that it was.

Chico you're cheating! ![]() ![]() ![]() 1 2 3 Originally Into The Groove wasn't included in the album. Released from the movie Desperately Seeking Susan it became a huge hit, so it was included in the re-release of the Like A Virgin album in 1985. In 2001 the album was remastered, having the original tracklisting without Into The Groove but including extended dance mixes of Like A Virgin and Material Girl as bonus tracks. and it appeared on the European version; which is the one I have! and don't question my authority. ![]() u called me a cheater. ![]() ![]() ![]() [Edited 8/24/05 19:34pm]

i think WB tacked on Into the Groove in 85 to capitalize on it's sucess. However when i bought it on CD in the 90s into the groove was not on it.
I did get the Angel CD single with it on there. Madonna may have had them take it off thinking that it wasn't supposed to be on there. ![]() [Edited 8/24/05 20:18pm] You CANNOT use the name of God, or religion, to justify acts of violence, to hurt, to hate, to discriminate- Madonna

btw, "Into The Groove" tops a lot of lists, but it seems unfair to make it #1 on an album it's not really from. Feel me?
