I just thought of some others though. I've never heard anyone who sounds like this guy..... ...how about..... These I agree with. Unfortunately, I can't quite say the same for Luther. His voice is distinctive, but I've heard vocalists that get pretty close to him. Same goes for Prince. I've heard many vocalists get close enough to fool many ears. Sananda/TTD would be a choice for me. I never hear a voice like his. Also, there are vocalists that come close to Ozzy. Even though he's distinctive, there are artists that have fooled some and used it as a selling point. James Brown has a distinctive voice. Only comedians imitate him and they do so knowing that everyone will recognize it. Also, I gotta go with Teena Marie. I haven't heard anyone else sound like her.

It's not an obvious match, but it definitely is there. Also there was another singer who covered Marvin Gaye's "I Want You" and he sounded exactly like Terence doing his vocals in his softer style. Even fooled me when I heard it on the radio for the first couple of times.

Yeah, it's Tricky. And his former muse Martina. Oh, so that's Martina. She's a cutie (at least by what little is shown). I loved the albums they did together. What happened to her solo album? I don't think it did well.

What?! I can't believe no one has mentioned Tone Lōc!!
Also, I nominate Edith Piaf. The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

In my ears, you can't be a great singer if your voice isn't unique. I mean, you can hit the notes right and all that, but if your voice is nothing special I won't remember you.
My personal choices are: Prince Jacques Brel Janis Joplin Leonard Cohen Björk Tricky Macy Gray also has a weird voice, but I don't like her at all.

But in all fairness, as there's so many great & original vocalists out there, it would take countless posts to list them all. Great to see some amazing additions here, though! You name the ones I forgot, deal?!

1. Prince- able to do it all vocally Best Vocal: Still would stand all time. 2. MJ-Very rare for child stars to emerge as musical icons, but his voice is timeless. Best Vocal: Butterflies (sounds like classic MJ) 3. Freddie Mercury- Say what you want, but he had the BEST voice of almost any front man in rock history. He is missed Best Vocal: Somebody to Love 4. Bowie-Listen to the mod/hippie era (late 1960's) Glam Era (1970-73), Plastic Soul, and The Berlin Trilogy, and his voice morphed with the music. Best Vocal: Ashes to Ashes 5. George Michael-From Wham to his solo stuff, always keeps me interested vocally. Best Vocal: Jesus to a Child Some others come to mind, but these are my picks Hell Freaking yeah!
