btw, "Into The Groove" tops a lot of lists, but it seems unfair to make it #1 on an album it's not really from. Feel me?

is that a request? giggle

4 Cinister:

You've got style, that's what all the girls say
Satin sheets and luxuries so fine
All your suits are custom made in London
But I've got something that you'll really like

Chorus:

Gonna dress you up in my love
All over, all over
Gonna dress you up in my love
All over your body

Feel the silky touch of my caresses
They will keep you looking so brand new
Let me cover you with velvet kisses
I'll create a look that's made for you

(chorus)

Gonna dress you up in my love, in my love
All over your body, all over your body
In my love
All over, all over
From your head down to your toes

I can't rank these joints.

Let's just say I could live without "Over and Over".

How dare you! You aren't a real Madonna fan. Get this Janet fan out of here!

some trivia about this album...

***This album was finished MONTHS before it was actually released.Warners were anxious to release it,but there was one problem: Madonna's first album was still selling. Her single "Borderline" was riding high on the charts, and so they decided to hold back 'Like A Virgin' until the hoopla from the first album finally died down.Madonna was pissed about this.

***"Material Girl" was written by Peter Brown. Those of you who were around in the 70s will remember him as the guy who had the huge disco hit "Dance With Me" in 1978.

Davideye, where is your list! smile

Why was Madonna pissed about holding the album? It makes sense since the first was still selling. I'm always suprised to hear her debut (I remember it was not as easy to find as the ohter albums and I wanted to buy it really bad) was that popular but with songs like "Lucky Star", it makes sense that it was.

By summer 1984,she was already sick of her debut album. She wanted to move on and show the world that she was capable of making a stronger, more diverse album (let's face it,the debut album is just a simple dance album). But the first album was still selling so they had to delay 'Like A Virgin' for several months.

It is just a simple dance album, but I find it much more enjoyable than LAV.

Neither album is spectacular, imo. There are some cool songs on both albums, but I didn't really become a fan until the 'True Blue' era, after I heard "Live To Tell".That song made me a fan for life lol

I agree with something a critic once said about this album. He said "It's only worth it for the hits" and he's right. The singles are very good...

"Like A Virgin"
"Material Girl"
"Dress You Up"
"Angel"

No problem with those songs.I love "Angel".It's the non-singles that aren't very memorable. But an album with four great songs is okay with me.

You'll love what Warner Bros. has got planned then.

She failed to even come close to the debut with Like a Virgin.

Madonna is a classic from beginning to end.

I don't have the "Into The Groove" verison (I saw it in Europe and should have bought...I don't have anything with the original "Into The Groove" on it!) but if I did, it would be topping my list, no question.

there's a "backtrax" CD single (you know, like the 7" "back to back" hits re-issues?) with ITG and DYU on it. pretty easy to find.

aside from the obscure European (whatever country it was) version of LAV, i think it's the only time the original has been released on CD. unless there's some random 80's hits compilation out there...

LAV and the reissue of the single are probably it. There is little chance this is on a comp. Madonna rules her songs with an iron fist! I think this song is very sought over and once it's released on a boxed set or deluxe hits set, it will be one of the draws (I highly doubt she would leave it off).

I saw the original 12" vinyl single for "Angel" b/w "Into The Groove" on the weekend for $1.50 Canadian. shrug It's the same single I have on CD. I hope no one has been having a hard time tracking this down.

I believe there are two import CD singles with the original "Into The Groove". When I did the search on Amazon, the one with "Angel" (an extended mix) as the main single with "Into The Groove" as the only other track poped up. There is an "offical" CD import single for "Groove", which has the "Desperately Seeking Susan" movie pic with Madonna and Rosanna Arquette leaning on each other. The other tacks are "Eveybody" (probably the album verison since it doesn't say anything different) and everyone's favorite "Shoo Bee Doo". I would definately buy the "Angel" single first. Two bad they recently went up in price. The singles used to cost $10.99 and they recently went up to $12.99...right before I ordered "Cherish" (excellent overall single...original "Supernatural" is worth it!).

Also surprising is that "Dress You Up" also has "Shoo Be Doo" on there....and one of favorites "Causing A Communtion" features "Jimmy, Jimmy" as one b-side (but also has three mixes of the song, so it might be worth it).
