Upcoming concerts you're looking forward to

I know many of you are excited about seeing the performances at the Prince Celebration, but what other concerts are you planning to attend this summer? Here are a few shows that I am really excited about...

***The Brothers Johnson (June 13th)---That's right,I'm gonna see them this Thursday and I can't wait!

***Marc Anthony (July 31st)---I'm diggin' his new CD 'Mended' and I hear he's a great live performer too.

***Cher (August 4th)---My friend is a huge Cher fan and she is MAKING me go with her to this show.I like Cher, but I have no idea what her live show is like. They're saying this is her "farewell tour" so it will be nice to see her one last time before she calls it quits (Cyndi Lauper is the opening act).

***Santana (fall)---I see Carlos everytime he tours, which is usually every year.I've never been disappointed with a Santana show.He plays my area in the fall (probably September or October) and his new CD "Shaman" will be released on September 24th.

***I really wanted to see Lauryn Hill this summer, but I don't like the tour that she is a part of (the "Smokin Grooves" Tour with Outkast,The Roots and Cee-lo).I feel that her slow, acoustic numbers will seem out-of-place on a hip-hop tour like this.I'm thinking she should play small, intimate theatres with just her on the bill.

***Before the year ends,I'll probably catch an Earth Wind and Fire show, too.Check out their funky new song "Whatever Happened" on the 'Undercover Brother' soundtrack.

DavidEye, I've been to a Santana concert too, does the bass player always play this freaking solo? He strummed chords, making the bass sound like a helicopter!

Vagina

Vagina says of course Prince then the Rolling Stones! Ah Mick and the Boys are going to be AWESOME. I always was a Huge Stones Fan since Tatoo You. I saw all the N.Y. shows ever since. Why do I always Miss Prince at these shows? He played L.A. but it wasn't a pleasent tour. The LA creeps treated him and his band lousy. That was a good tour for the Stones Santana opened for them as well as George Thoroughgood and the Destroyers. Stones fans are really crazy and wild. The Hells Angels were at their show in Philadelphia at JFK Stadium. Everybody drinks like fishes and smokes weed. Everybody gets mad wasted. Tickets are 250 and 350 a pop. People are complaining about Prince's ticket prices? His prices are CHEEP! They are more than fair and people in Minnesota have been seeing him basically for free all these years. People are always complaining no one's ever happy. SAD really.

I will definitely go to the Eric Mingus concert on July 7th (I think) here in Rome.
Probably Daniele Silvestri on July 9th.
Still don't know if I'll manage to go and see Chaka Khan who's playing I don't know when here in Rome.
... and I don't really know yet who else is coming to town this summer!!! wink

OBVIOUSLY:
Prince -> the sooner the better!!! wink

sweet... i've never seen them in concert, but i have "live at the roxy", which is good as hell...

meeting mike ness would be cool as hell... he just seems like the kind of guy that would be cool as hell...

unfortunately, social d hasn't make their way to the southeast in quite some time now... i keep watching thier tour dates, but they don't seem to venture out of the west very often...

got my fingers crossed though...

i paid $90 last time, and didn't get mad wasted, i had three drinks. for $90, i'm not getting blasted. this guy next to me did, though. his friend ragged on me for buying a Stones shirt (which was from the 95 tour) and said i was stupid to give them money for a shirt. meanwhile, they're downing beers like they're water, and they missed damn near half the show...the guy's wife slapped him across the back of the head after the show, screaming that she paid $200 for their tickets and he didn't even watch the show...i'll do the same in October when i see the Stones, a few drinks, then stuck to my seat until the lights come up...

also going to INXS on July 5th, Billy Idol in August, and David Lee Roth/Sammy Hagar in Buffalo over Labor Day weekend. already saw Roth/Hagar a couple weeks ago, but we're road-tripping Buffalo. may try to squeeze in Tom Petty and Lenny Kravitz/Pink.
