A-ha debut New Track "CELICE"

News From the Official Site

Hours and minutes for a-ha

"Celice," a-ha's first single from the new album, entered at number 5 on the airplay-charts in Norway today, only 24 hours after its release! This is almost unprecedentedly quick - but slow compared to the 52 minutes it took to sell out the show at Irving Plaza in New York in September.

The new single was reviewed by the nation's biggest newspaper, VG, and given a rating of 5 out of a possible 6, saying:

"Promising"

Magne Furuholmen has written an evocative, atmospheric and melancholy song, that leaves no doubt of who the sender is. "Celice" demonstrates the unique sound a-ha has developed. In collaboration with mixer Flood and producer Martin Terefe, a-ha has come up with a song that's both rough and tight. "Celice" is a great song that is not really adjusted to please any one or fit any format, which is interesting considering that the song has radio release tomorrow.

The single will be on sale in Norway from October 4. "Celice" is going to radio in other European territories over the next two weeks. a-ha is back in the swing of things.

I have yet to hear the Track but based on the review A-ha seems to have picked up where It Left off with "LifeLines" their last studio record, I think the addition of FLOOD will give the record a Fuller feel, especially since A-ha recorded the entire new CD together. Im also glad to hear A-ha is not going to cater to any particular market but their own, which is what I wish alot of "Older" artists would do!!!

Well actually even though a-ha havent had a "HIT" in america, they are present in Bands that have been influenced by them like SNOW PATROL, KEANE, AQUALUNG, COLDPLAY and of course U2's "Beatiful Day" owes alot to The Sun always Shines on TV, especially the chorus.....Ask Bono

Oh No! Not ANOTHER 80's band trying 2 make a comeback. Wasn't there a Eurythmics thread on this?

Look at the ill-fated Bananarama duo - that went belly up!
Maybe Mags should have written a solo guitar album or sumthin'!
The best thing they could do is create another innovation like they did with "Take On Me" - the very first video to combine animation and live action seemlessly ("Money For Nothin'" Dire Straits was more lo-fo computer generated).

If they do, I hope they won't do like Bananarama and try to relive the old days while tryin' to reach the current!

as U can see I am very disappointed in Bananarama!

Well actually this isnt a comeback, because A-ha has been recording constantly in Europe and Successful. Also Mags has already had a Solo record, it debuted this year in Norway, and by the way is Excellent, his backing band are the members of Coldplay on that one. As far as this being an attempted comeback for the USA, its not, the only thing that is different is that the USA will actually get the album also, Universal has signed A-ha to a 3 CD deal. But dont expect to see A-ha all over the USA, they will play the one NYC show, and then its back to Europe for the tour. They possibly may return in 2006 to the USA for more dates.
