I´m asking the same 2 myself I´m a huge fan of Billy. Latest things BJ made, was a concert tour with Elton John (Face 2 Face Tour). He also composed a classical music album "Fantasies & Delusions". Elton John said, that BJ is 2 lazy Hopefully his lazyness ends quick

I've always got the sense that he takes himself too seriously, like those songwriters who analyze every lyric of their song like it's some important earth-changing statement. I can see him getting sloshed while regaling his dinner guests with rants against the recording industry and drunken dissections of "New York State of Mind".
His daughter's kinda cute, though My author page: https://www.amazon.com/au...eretttruth

I guess I always thought I'd catch "his next tour."
It looks as though I missed my chance. Damn the super model wife and damn the old age setting it.. and damn the drinking!!!

He recently married a woman a few years older than his daughter. Maybe he's still homeymooning. Damn this kooky love affair....

Billy actually Retired from "POP" music and obviously music in general. I respect him for doing that, he basically felt there was nothing to do anymore, he wasnt being MOVED by anything and just lost his desire for the Industry and all that stuff, his last 2 albums STORMFRONT and RIVER OF DREAMS clearly show someone that didnt want to be bothered anymore, although some good moments, mostly Very forgettable CDS though they were huge sellers, I guess U could say Billy did go out on top. I also respect BILLY for sticking to His retirement since No one else ever does, i just have this feeling this guy is gonna do something again, its his turn to have a "santana" comeback. last i heard, he was dropped by his record label because his career was an embarrasment and a disgrace to the music industry.
he's so embarrasing, no record company wants to sign him up. also, apparently, he was caught with a 19 year old nanny fucking her on his toilet seat and his wife walked in.

I'm pretty suspicious of this idea that pop stars "retire". It's not like they're washing machine repairmen or city employees or something. If they change styles or do something else (go into acting etc.) that's one thing, but to just hang it up and "retire"? That's not natural. Seems something else is afoot.

I think he's going through a mid-life crisis.Ever since Christie Brinkley divorced him,it's been downhill for him.He has a problem with alcohol addiction...he was involved in a couple of car accidents....he recently married a girl who's young enough to be his daughter!

His best songs describe how lonely and depressed he is. And he has an alcohol problem.

A lot of folks say that musicians should just give it all up when their music is no longer relevant. I say why would a musician ever stop making music? Even athletes who can't compete can still enjoy playing with others in their age group. Look at golf. We're lucky to still be able to watch those legends play. And since music isn't a competition, why should musicians ever retire? I don't exactly miss Billy Joel, but if he wants to make music it won't hurt me. I believe that creativity is an essential part of a person that doesn't simply get turned off. He may be blocked by alcohol and other issues, but it doesn't mean it's not there and part of who he is. It has nothing to do with one's worldly status or career. Obviously, he's talented and his story is kind of sad.

Billy gave up pop music. It wasn't a record contract thing, he simply went off pop music.
He has been putting out classical music for years. He has been writing exceptional classical piano. Her says he grew tired of his average voice. So he decided to drop it. the only artist I can remember that actually stuck to their convictions. .

There's talk of another Joel/Elton John tour again next year. So far it's just talk.

if he didn't, then he really ought to consider it.

>his last 2 albums STORMFRONT and RIVER OF DREAMS clearly show someone that didnt want to be bothered anymore, although some good moments, mostly Very forgettable CDS though they were huge sellers<
I may be one of the few, but I thought "River of Dreams" was one of his best albums. And he's had several top quality albums. An impressive foray into a more modern blues-rock sound without sounding dated or cheesy. Well, at least the first half of it. The second half was more of those 'Billy Joel ballads' that he had done for years, but they were all strong songs with good production. I really think he should attempt one more album in his old pop-rock vein before he gets to where he really couldn't even if he wanted to. At least do it for the die-hard fans. I think he would make a lot of money from it, he has always had a loyal fanbase. Elton's probably right, he does seem a bit lazy. Though it's true he's probably lost his interest in it.
