I saw VELEVET REVOLVER Friday Night The show was great. The band just killed. Slash was mighty as always. That dude is incredible. His solos from "You Got No Right" and "Fall To Pieces" were exactly like the record. Duff really held it down on bass, and Dave Kushner ripped up the rhythm guitar. Matt Sorum was out with a busted hand, but his replacement on drums was off the hook.
Scott Weiland? He was friggin' Scott Weiland, of course . Seriously, he looked and sounded great. He doesn't look as thin as he used to, and the clarity in his voice shows that he must be taking care of himself. I truly hope he keeps it together. They played pretty much everything from the album Contraband, but it was fun to hear them play "Sex Type Thing" (STP) and "Mr. Brownstone" (G'n R). Both of those versions sounded great. As a band, these guys are sick with professionalism. Everything was super tight. Nothing too fancy, just straight ahead, free-wheelin' rock 'n roll. I showed up in time to see the last six or seven songs of Chevelle's set as they opened. They actually sounded better than I thought they would. Geno Lenardo (formerly of Filter) was on guitar and he was great. All you rock fans, check this tour out if you get the chance.

I've seen them twice. Once at this jam packed show at The Wiltern, the night their cd was released. And again in Vegas. Both shows were smokin'. I've been hip to Slash and Duff since their Whiskey A Go Go days from 86. I seen them then with a very raw Guns N Roses. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

Nice. Slash and Duff still sound really good together.

Hmmm. I don't really like the 'reclaim the throne while Axl is still up in his own ass'-attitude going on Velvet Revolver. And the name is lame. Not that I fancy 'Axl and the guys that aren't Slash' at the moment. Anyway, you had a good time. That's what matters.

His solos sounded just like the record in the sense that he played them note for note while maintaining the same energy and emotion in them. As for Axl, I really don't miss him at all. I actually prefer Scott Weiland to Axl.

I really like them and would love to see them live. I'm jealous. "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

Both times I'd seen them live, they smoked! SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."
