I haven't heard their first 2 albums, so maybe my perception is just a figment of their mainstream canon. or that one song. hey, 'lovefool' was a good song...the first THOUSAND times it's forced on you, anyway.

I can see that it's a well-constructed pop song, but most mainstream music of the 90s just didn't cut it with me for some reason. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Was carnival the single from life? There was a single from that album that I absolutely loved - it had a great vocal hook, something like "C'mon and love me now" or something like that... ah, I'm probably totally butchering this - but I know I really liked that song...a lot.

Moonbeam said: I love this band. They have produced timeless songs and albums (yes albums!). A cover of "Listen to Your Heart" currently resides in the top 10 in the US.
Roxette definately had a way with a pop tune but when I saw this thread I first thought of the recent DHT cover...a dance song that hit the top ten! Only happens once a year, max now of days! Actually, VH1 played the ballad verison of the song and it's pretty good and sounds a lot like the original but is very minimalist. Immediately, I thought of that hit cover of "Heaven", which also had a slow verison added later. In fact, I've heard a lot of recent soundalike covers of eighties and even nineties songs after it. I'm a lot more impressed with the DHT over that DJ whatever cover of "Heaven". That being said, there is much better dance pop out there.
