I don't think so. A bunch of thugs putting a bad name on black people. That's what most rappers do today.

One of the things about NWA is that each core member brung their element to the group.

Eazy-E was the real gangster (he acutally did dirt) and businessman of the group.

Dre was the master behind the beats

Cube was the MC of the group

Ren was second to Cube until Cube left the group; while Eazy, Dre and Cube have acheived mainstream success, he perfers to make street music instead of commercial, so he reps the underground end of NWA

Yella was the quiet guy who didnt rap; he was a DJ/producer

The other members of the group as a collective:

DOC - ghostwriter
Arabian Prince - DJ/rapper on the 1st album
King T
CPO
Above The Law

...and...

it is hardly fair to blame the group for whatever influence they may have had on subsequent groups or music in general. It could have just as easily flopped and had no influence on anyone.

i always thought Eazy was a lazy rapper, he always sounded like he was rapping like how someone else wanted him to rap...
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

The earliest hits Eazy and NWA had (Boyz In The Hood, Dopeman) were clearly modeled after Schooly D's "P.S.K." and Ice-T's "Six In The Mornin'." Listen to the flow on those 2 records and it'll sound very familiar to you.

Ice Cube & Dr.Dre made NWA as a MC & DJ duo!

And Eazy-E had HIS OWN drug money to start up Ruthless Records. Plus, he had a double role as label owner & comedic foil within the group!

MC Ren & DJ Yella were THE Real afterthoughts!!!

I disagree with all y'all.
MC REN was the baddest ass of all NWA. He had the venom and the authenticity to carry off what he was saying.

The rest were over-rated and I think when Ice Cube released "AmeriKKKA's Most Wanted" - that was when Cube really began to shine.

"Peter peter the pussy eater - No it's the E - the motherfuckin' Pussy beater"
"Always gotta fuck outta wedlock- I like it when the pussy goes Snap, Crackle and pop"

U really rate Eric Wright's lyrics? He was the comic relief not a rapper!

Tried many flavours - but sooner or later, always go back to the Purple Kool-aid!
