Shoulda paid 50 cents for that beat

NAS PAYS TWO MILLION DOLLARS FOR A BEAT

Rap star Nas reportedly has paid a staggering $2 million for a mystery new beat created by hip hop producers the Neptunes.
A number of artists were reported to be in competition for the beat, including Sean "P. Diddy" Combs.

It's so groundbreaking, rap veteran Busta Rhymes is convinced it will make hip-hip history.

He says, "Those drums man. Those drums are fire! If Nas is gonna rap to this beat, it's going to be over. This will be the biggest hit in the history of hip hop."

ssb-2 million for a drum loop? And by the neptunes? Oh yeah Hollaback girl was so FRESH. Man what a beat! rolleyes At least the Neptunes can make music...er beats. The best music comes from within. revolutionize hip-hop MY ASS. Hip hop is dying and it NEEDS something to keep it fresh. A new beat ought to do it rolleyes Um maybe Nas should take a clue from Outcast and MAKE MUSIC...you know do what an ARTIST does. SHEESH!

What are your sources? Cos this story is outrageous!

And The Neptunes have introduced some sort of musicianship into today's hip hop; it's not an unthinkable stretch to believe they have revolutionized a fragment of hip hop. Chad Hugo and Williams actually do possess some knowledge of chords and chord progressions.

CinisterCee

I heard about this a couple months ago.

Apparently there was a serious bidding war for it, and that's how the price escalated.

Economics in a free market! woot!

oops just a rumor edit. hmph!

Nas didnt pay $2 million for that beat according to Columbia reps.

At the end of June there was a rumor that Nas paid $2 million for a Neptunes beat after a bidding war between himself and P Diddy.

Busta Rhymes, who had no part in the supposed deal, was apparently quoted as saying "Ah shit, thats the craziest beat, I ever heard! Those drums man, Those drums are fire! If Nas is gonna rap to this beat, its going to be over. This will be the biggest hit in the history of hiphop!"

StreetHop.com refrained from posting the news as we usually prefer to let false rumors die down on their own accord instead of giving attention to the people that start such lies. However it seems the rumor has been circulating the Internet again and we’ve been getting a ton of emails asking when the song would come out and if it was the 50 Cent diss.

Let us set the record straight once and for all. StreetHop.com spoke with Columbia when the rumor first hit, and Nas did not pay $2 million for a beat, the story is totally false. The Busta Rhymes quote is false; someone made it all up. So stop emailing in and posting your false Nas "scoops."
