Anxy's Wrecka Stow Finds Du Jour (Vol. Whatevs) I couldn't resist. I have the day off with nothing to do, so I hit up the local used wrecka stow bins and walked off with these three goodies:
PUBLIC ENEMY: Power to the People and the Beats: PE's Greatest Hits METAL FINGERS PRESENTS: Special Herbs v.9+0 X: Beyond and Back: The X Anthology I'm listening to the Metal Fingers disc now - very nice stuff, all instrumental and very mellow in kind of an Americanized Tricky kinda way, with a little lounge and a little retro and a little bit of stoner trip-hop going on. Liking it. I'm glad there's finally a comprehensive PE Greatest Hits out now...even though it doesn't have my favorite post-glory days Flava song, "Whut Whut" on it. As for the X disc, I've been wanting to get into them for a while now, and I've been waiting to find a good anthology. This looks to be the best I'll find. If anyone knows any "must have" X albums, do hip me to 'em...

I'm not sure if it's still in print, but years ago the first two X albums (Los Angeles and Wild Gift) were released on one disc. Even if it's out of print it's almost certainly bound to be ebay-able. If you like what you hear on the anthology, I think that would be a strong candidate for the next logical purchase. I'm not a huge fan or anything, but I do like those first two albums, despite Exene Cervenka's trouble with pitch - but they were punks, so I guess that was part of their charm.

For X, I would have also said Los Angeles and Wild Gift (which has "White Girl" on it).
