"King OF Rock" Vs. "Raising Hell"

I enjoyed to read the comments on those other threads about PE and Eric & Rakim, so why not do another one...

So which is your pick?

Oooh Shit! Well confuse, I should go with King Of Rock to stay truer to the old school, and it was their last album before they "crossed-over" and really went "main stream", but, I tend to like more songs on Raising Hell.

I don't think it's their fault that they crossed over, their sound was NOT yet mainstream back then.. instead they helped making it the mainstrem

oh btw, I go with "Rasing Hell" as well

Fuck's sake! Well...forcing myself to choose, I'd go with...

Two great albums, but King of Rock doesn't have Hit It Run smile Ask me tomorrow, and you're gonna get a different answer.

King of Rock by far. It was the second rap album I ever heard. My first was the Beastie Boys. But King of Rock changed my world. I used to walk around with my boom box and my cassette tape blasting it so others would think I was cool. What the hell was I thinking? Then I started buying new sneakers and not wearing them so they wouldn't get dirty. My mom thought I was crazy. Raising Hell was great but you were more likely to hear that one at a frat-party.

Yeah, I don't think it was their fault either. It was probably Russell's fault. But I really do think that they went mainstream when they did the re-make with
Aerosmith, and doing a video featuring Pen & Teller. They also had more songs playing on the radio around the clock, not just late at night during "Hip-Hop Hour" or whatever. Touring with the Beastie Boys I'm sure broadened they fan base racially as well

You know its tough, but I'll go with Rasing Hell for 2 reasons. I had the others ones taped off my buddies vinyl, but I bought this one when it came out in cassete.

The second is it reintroduced me to Aerosmith. I knew who they were and everything, but they had been pretty much DOA for 5 years or so. I was like I remember these guys from Grade school. So I went back buying all their old 70's shit. Which fucking rule.

It was cool that aerosmith had run dmc opening for them right before jam master Jay died. I was at one of their concerts shortly after that and it was a sad moment when they went into walk this way

King of Rock. easy.

Raising Hell has some lame cuts that are obvious commercial attempts. King of Rock is Hip-hop at it's finest. Essential. The first 5 or 6 cuts on Raising Hell are gold though. wink

You Talk too Much....I ran that shit into the ground and annoyed my poor mother to death disbelief and let's not talk about (dumb, dumb, dumb) girl...I could listen to an extended mix of just the dumb, dumb chorus...disbelief

The first album is their best, imo.

I pick both. One album can't live without the other. Both are Hip-Hop Masterpieces!!!!
