Control vs. Madonna

Which breakout album do you prefer?

Madonna's Debut Madonna (1983)

Janet Jackson's First Hit Control (1986)

Could someone post the album artwork for both?

I'd have to go with...

Both/Neither. Can't decide they're both too hot and still sound fresh...if only a Control Remaster would be made available...I think they both have two or three songs of filler that are still GREAT tracks and each a host of unforgettable dance pop/r&b.

fave song from each:

madonna: burning up
control: when i think of you
I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

I never liked madonna's stuff. "1814" is the industrial shit I like sometimes. Madonna's early stuff is ok is guess. A album like robbie nevills first solo can kick madonnas overplayed ass.

Iam still surprised u dont like debbie gibson, u like virtually every other many female vocalists but not debbie. confused

Although I do give Debbie props for actually writing and producing her own shit, I must say that it is still whiny teenage bullshit pop with absolutely no style or distinctive traits. In other words: thesexofit music.

Shutup voices, Iam just saying madonna ain't funky. Not saying u dont like funky.

newjack is funky too.

Its hard to like that sorta music when Iam only 19 years old. But its cool u do, but u are in the minority for ur age. Iam in the minority of one in my tastes, but thats expected.

"You know who Claudia Schiffer's favorite band is? Foreigner. Isn't that just the way? But you know what, so what? She's still the most popular. So what? She likes Foreigner." - Janeane Garofalo

Somehow, I think Claudia and thesexofit's tastes converge somehow evillol

"control" - because at the time it came out, it was a case of a teenybopper who'd been releasing fluff coming out with something hard and aggressive and funky, while at the same time keeping some of the integrity of her softer side. that album kicked my ass when i first heard it - i couldn't believe it was janet.

madonna's first album? eh. it's fine.

Even though she looks like a hooker there, she's way sexier looking on the European cover.

Brilliant, brilliant album. Right up there with Dirty Mind by Prince. It took her 17 years to better this classic debut.

I haven't heard Control yet. Last I checked in the stores it was ridiculously overpriced. Someday, maybe. Never been a huge Janet fan though.

'Madonna' is just simply one of my all time fav albums.

Although both 'Control' and 'Madonna' suffer from having utter CRAP filler songs, but 'Madonna' just pips it since 'Think Of Me' delivers. There's nothing as bad as 'I Know It' on 'Control' though.

What do you think of "You Can Be Mine"? I hated it at first; then realized just how purely funky it is.

I feel the same about both You Can Be Mine and I Know It - not great songs, but I don't dislike them as much as most do.
