Yeah, the stuff that followed wasn't as nice, there were a couple tracks off "Bound By the Beauty" and "When I was a Boy" i didn't mind listening to, but for the most part "The Walking" remains superior. THough, some of her albums before The Walking are very experimental, but at the time i heard/owned them i must've not been musically sophisticated enough to enjoy them.

I absolutely adore kd lang's version of her song "Love is Everything". Has to be heard to be believed. It's honestly one of the most touching songs I've ever heard. I liked her track on the Crow soundtrack too. That's about all I know by her, other than that my former boss is a huge fan.

Stereopathic Soulmanure has some fun stuff on it, including I think a song that wound up on a Johnny Cash album. I think "Satan Gave Me A Taco" is my favorite from that album, plus the Ozzy thing and the freaky-ass sped-up tape recordings.

"Cobra and Phases" is an interesting album. "The Free Design" is one of my favorite Stereolab songs, but that album in general is kinda hard to love at first. I eventually got used to it. I think it's a very free-jazz album for them, which threw me for a (dot and a) loop.

i think 'sound-dust' is amazing...it seems like every song on that album is a suite of two or more songs or melodies - the way a song ends on that album is not the way it ends. plus there's a song on there that reminds me of the band chicago, weirdly enough. or maybe not so weird, since they recorded that album in chicago!

i don't have their first two or three albums...i need to just break down and get 'em someday...i'm familiar with them because i had a roommate who loved early stereolab, plus i have a couple of compilations with early stuff (the BBC sessions, mainly). the only stereolab offering i haven't really been able to warm up to is the "microbe hunters" e.p. that came out right after "cobra and phases". it just sounds too droney and symmetrical after the chaos of "cobra and phases", i couldn't get with it.
