so ive had this somewhat fascination with this genre, its sounds so soothing and i dont know alluring...

anyways..i currently like from this genre the fallowing bands..

Ride..
The Jesus and Mary Chain..

i was wondering if you people knew more diverse shoegazing bands.

M83-Dead cites, red seas and lost ghost

and Sigur Ros- i'm not even going to attempt spelling the name of their albums.

This genre boderlines on dreampop, which there seems to be an abundance of.

i've been hearing a lot about Black Rebel motorcycle club, though i haven't heard anything by them as of yet.

I used to be really into that type of music. Lush and Curve were my favorites. Cranes seemed to be grouped in with the shoegazers early on. Love them also.

oh goody...thanks for the bands..i will start my expirementation with these bands...by the way..i don't really find sigur ros as shoegaze band..i find then more like a ..space rock band..with that said..i didnt mean it to sound to rude,i mean thank you for adding the band..but i apologize if it sounded a bit rude.

Lush, Cranes and Curve, the earlier albums from the early 90s obviously are the ones that are closest to the shoegazing sound. You might want to try some Cocteau Twins too. Robin Guthrie did production work for Lush so their sound was a little similar.

okay..yeah i love this band..such sublime..ive been in love with this band ever since i was 9. my favorite songs... Lorelei..Bluebeard..Cherry flavored funk..but i most admit,i prefer the darker sounding cocteau twins

I recommend their first two albums.They maybe out of print though.

My Bloody Valentine’s Loveless is one of my all time top albums easily. I think it’s one of the few truly innovative guitar records to be released since Are You Experienced.

Other bands?

• The first Chapterhouse album was really good, though I thought it had the same problem as the first few Lush releases – Robin Guthrie’s glossy production left some of the songs feeling a little toothless.
• I loved Spacemen 3 and the early Jesus and Mary Chain, if they can be lumped in here.
• I’ve heard some excellent Pale Saints singles, but I never bought one of their albums.
• Never warmed up to Slowdive too much, but I think Mojave 3 have released some excellent albums (but of course they sound nothing like a shoe-gazer/dream pop band these days).
• The Boo Radley’s Everybird was a great single, and they had some other good ones, but they were just a little too cute for me overall.
• Th’ Faith Healers first album was ½ brilliant – they really knew how to ride a groove when they got a full head of steam going.
• Medicine were such a blatant carbon copy of MBV that I could never really take them seriously, but Something Goes Wrong is a great song.

It's obviously from a South Park episode. They were talking about shoegazers, and then showed these kids. Guess you never saw that one. It's the first thing I thought of when seeing the thread title.

I remember either Stan or Kyle mentioning it, when talking about the goth kids in their town. I remember because I had never heard the term before. It's on the "you got served" parody episode.
