Ray parker Jr "sex and the single man"

I just picked this album up. "girls are more fun" and "good time baby" are great fun. No surprise this album, production wise sounds like early new editon. biggrin

"good time baby" has sound effects that were used in many arcade shoot 'em ups. An early chukki booker is credited on keyboards. eek cool I love chukki.

I guess u dont remember my thread about his newjack album "love you like you are" in the early 90's? I guess u hate that album? lol Ray seems to be very honest and slightly sexist occasionally.

Come on, u heard "love you like you are" album? Lional could never get harcore newjack. That shit was pure funk. With titles like "she needs to get some", u know it aint gonna be adult contemporary like his "a man should never sleep alone" album.

Ray wanted to appeal to the funksters, and the funk then was newjack. He got his funk back mad

I can see what ur saying. Iam surprised u have the album. He did jump on the trend, but who didn't back then? At least he produced it himself and did it all himself, which shows he didn't need teddy riley or whoever to show him how to do it. He did seem to like father MC too, which is fine by me, but I imagine, not for you.

I love that album. Kashif realy jumped on newjack, as he never was funky prior to his newjack album. It delivered some good newjack shit aswell.

Im with Legsbaby on this one..Ray did lose the funkpass after "Ghostbusters". Right around that time he started focusing on his looks/image and became "Billy Dee Parker"..I think he even did an action movie in 1985..The stuff he did before that (Raydio) was pretty slick. Ray Parker Jr. interested me because I remember seeing an article on him (and like Prince) he played everything, so that's what hipped me to him. I saw him recently on tv and he's still active in producing and writing. (He also married the woman in the "Ghostbusters" video too.)
