David Bowie's REALITY: Two Years Later

It's taken me two years to finally jump on the wagon, but I am LOVING David Bowie's "Reality" album right now. Don't know why. It seems perfect for this summer - a bit jaunty and as he called it, "thrusty", but at the same time, it's got the perfect bit of melancholy, which goes down nice when I think about how lucky we all were last year to have Bowie AND Prince touring the U.S. extensively. I sure miss that this summer, even with as much fun as I've been having with music festivals this month.

Anyway - while I wait for the anniversary edition of Young Americans to fall my way, "Reality" is giving me quite the needed Bowie fix...even if the reaction has been a bit delayed (I didn't care for it much up until recently).

And yes..."She Drives the Big Cars" is the music he used for the concert intro! nod

Anyone else having fun with this album lately?

I caught the tour when it came through last year and I got the special edition Reality CD that included a DVD of concert footage - it was only sold at concerts, I think. It made me think of his similarities to Prince: a veteran rock legend who is still releasing great music but doesnt get the attention it deserves.

I'm surprised there is nothing new coming out....what happened to the very prolific Bowie? I never did get into that CD like I did with "Heathen", which was so consistent!

I like "Heathen" much better but there are some reality-tracks I really love! smile

"New Killer Star"
"Pablo Picasso"
"Reality"

("Waterloo Sunset")

"Bring Me The Disco King" is the shit! That was the tune that made me buy that CD. The whole CD is cool.

Played this a lot when it came out, got halfway into it, didn't make it to the show and forgot about it. I've
been wanting to get all his albums and finally get what the artist that is Bowie is about, but it hasn't happened
yet. I do have the Scary monsters lp sitting on my shelf for quite some years now.

I might dig it out smile

it was the intro to the reality concerts.

get your copy of the reality cd and your copy of the tour dvd, and do a little comparison test.

better yet, let's bet on it first, i need the money. deal

And I have no money.
I still don't believe you and haven't heard anything about this on any Bowie forum, I will compare the two though.

Reality is great... i loved it when I came out, and I still think its one of the best records of his career. His last 3 albums have been a triology of sorts, and they are all very very good.

I hated it the first time I listened. Don't know why. That kinda surprised me, cuz I'd had "New Killer Star" for awhile and absolutely loved it. I hadn't slept the night before, so I'm sure that was part of it. But I quickly warmed up to it with each listen. My roommate at the time wasn't a big Bowie fan, but thought it was awesome and quickly learned all the songs on guitar, then taught them to me. I think that was the breakthrough.

That's what makes her so hot and irrestiable. BTW, when that movie where Rosie plays a retarded woman who rides the bus all day with Andie McDowell as her sister comes out on DVD, remind me to send you a copy....What's that movie called? Oh yes, "Riding the Bus with...Satan!"
