nothing tops Peter's duet with that paragon of musical brilliance, Amy Grant: "Next Time I Fall". now THAT is classic rock and roll balladry at its finest. razz

"she's a ho" by tragic mulatto is the first rock song written by a lesbian tuba player about a bitter break-up. in my book, that deserves "classic" status. nod

Dinosaur Jr.
Saturday Action Theater
Goldfinger
Blatant Finger
A New January

The only one i had heard before tonight was Dinosaur Jr (which i've always loved). The others are very good, and quite different.

Are any of these versions you're using from Cure tribute CD's? Maybe you could hunt some versions from those.

no they aren't, and you make a good point... none of those tribute CDs seem to be on iTunes. and i saw another comp CD at Tower Tonight - i forget the name, but it has current punk/indie bands doing 80's covers, and someone does JLH. very good version.... i'm sure there are tons of others out there. it would be cool to do a CD w/ all of them.
