This quote from SDLDAWN is about the album "McCartney" as opposed to "Satan" but it describes "Satan" as well. There's nothing around today that sounds so intimate and casual, yet it's not sloppy. Even the U2 record, which is pretty basic stuff, sounds way over-produced. Everything you hear on the White Stripes record is how it would sound if they were at home playing just for themselves. Yes, I understand I compared both albums... I am assuming I shouldnt have.. [Edited 7/30/05 1:00am] Oh, no. If you hadn't compared them first, I would have. There are obvious similarities. McCartney does have some well fleshed out songs, like you say--Teddy Boy, Maybe I'm Amazed, Junk (These are some of my favorite of his solo songs). I can see Satan being disappointing to someone expecting an all out rock fest, and it does sound kinda sloppy & simple at first, but I don't think the songs are premature once you get to know them. I do wonder what Jack would do with a real band though... Check this song out at:
