it's not an immediate gratification album. you need to give it a few listens, shelve it, get it back out again...i rarely fall in love with a new order album on first listen. | |

It's not that I think the tracks are mediocre, it's that I think too many of them outright fucking suck. Jetstream has to be one of the lamest things they've ever done.  | |

i'll ask ya again in three months or so. of course, whenever i get to hear an album live by a band i like, it ups my appreciation of their recent stuff. but i was digging on it before we saw 'em this year... | |

I bought it a couple of weeks ago and wasn't impressed either...but maybe like Anx says, I need to give it another try. 
Having said that, though, it occurs to me I never had that problem with their music years ago...always loved it right away! I had the exact opposite reaction. I was very disappointed by their previous album, Get Ready. Because of it, my expectations were pretty low. When I listened to Sirens' Call for the first time, I thought it was a much stronger record. It isn't great, but I find it rewarding.  Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you! | |
