*slim thug* I've had the advance since last fall and the actual album and advance are superb [Edited 7/20/05 14:20pm] Tell me: what does he do that NWA, Ice-T, Tupac, Ice Cube, Mobb Deep, Jay-Z, and dozens of others haven't done? I'm really asking, because I suspect next month it will be some other "gangsta" cat on the come-up. You must be confusing the Game with Slim Thug. Hater

And further more, I don't make a point to talk about other people's soft easy listening tastes, but there is always someone attacking a Hip Hop artist.
Tori Amos doesn't float my boat. I didin't know Beck was making albums....still I mean Can Hip Hop heads have a moment? There's always an old living in the 80's hater that has something to say. I mean maybe I should start talking about other people's candy ass tastes....but I DON'T SMOOCHES!!!

Tough decision...
It is between Spirit Music Jamia - Dance of the infidel (Universal France) and Eels - Blinking lights and other revelations (Vagrant) Being closer to the Me'shell experience I am tempted to go with the first.

Sleater-Kinney makes my top 5 also.

[Edited 7/20/05 14:49pm] Damn, two new studio albums in the last five years??? You really don't like new music!

At first I liked it a lot but not to the point of becoming extatic over it. Then I had it playing in my car real loud on dvd-r and I didn't notice at first that a new album had started so I was just listening and thinking "wow, this is absolutely amazing!". hehe. since then I'm in love with it. What an excellent cd! and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

So i've put £25 on her winning the Mercury Music Prize (11-1, please come in. ) The Gorillaz album is good, certainly, but not exceptional. Same with Antony and the Johnsons.

[Edited 7/21/05 23:19pm] ME?!? nuh-uh. i might have started a post about bowie raving about them on bowienet last year, but i've never really raved about them myself. i DID start a thread screaming about how good the decemberists are, and how if there were any justice in the world, they'd have arcade fire's success right now. and i stand by that statement - there's just too much delicious songwriting on 'picaresque' to be overlooked.
