Everything Roxy Music

I really love this band after finally familiarizing myself with their whole catalog. They've had quite the varied discography and suit my tastes quite well. Do whatever you want with this thread, but appreciate this band here! Lists are always welcome, whether they be top 10 songs, ranking the albums, ranking the album covers lol or anything else.

i don't even know - i'm just still very shocked listening to their first two albums (which were ever so generously given to me earlier this year smile ), because they're nothing like the music that i've always associated with roxy music. i'm still digesting it!

I love them too. And it was so cool to get into them at the same time. Glad you get it and didn't let the voice hang you up.

They're brilliant. I still think their first 2 albums contain some of the most mind-bendingly original musical thought commited to tape.

I'd probably rank their albums this way.

1. Roxy Music
2. Stranded
3. For Your Pleasure

it's tough between those 3

4. Siren
5. Country Life
6. Avalon
7. Manifesto
8. Flesh and Blood

Their box set is killer too. thumbs up!

I still don't have the first 2 by Eno. Are they related to the Roxy? I've heard they're quite wild.

wild? i dunno about that. they're very much brian eno, only with slightly more ragged edges. i'm sure that didn't help at all. lol

they're a lot less glam than those first two Roxy Music CDs...he's definitely got the whole icy/pristeen sound going on in the early solo stuff.

Roxy (Ferry) held eno back. Eno's solo output is legendary. Eno Rules. nod

I don't think Roxy ever gets credit for being one of the founding fathers of New Wave/New Romantic. But I will go on record and say that withouth them, do you think there will be a Spandau, Blow Monkeys, or ABC, or the likes of those?

"Love is the Drug" sounded like Duran Duran like 7 years before they made it big.

Roxy Music are one of the greatest bands of all time. They never made a bad album (even though a couple are weak by their standards) and Bryan Ferry hasd never sung a bad note. Innovative and influential beyond measure, consistently interesting and challenging, always nine steps ahead of the competition.

My favourite Roxy albums are:

Stranded
For Your Pleasure
Roxy Music
Avalon
Manifesto
Siren

... but if you start buying them, buy the lot. Same with Bryan Ferry's albums.
There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently
