Brenda helped Mariah get on when she gave Tommy Matolla her demo. She was on the Wendy Williams show and she basically said that Mariah was fake. This is obviously for publicity cause Brenda has a new CD coming out. She has also said that Mariah's "breakdown" was due to nothing but being upset over a guy.

This is a coincidence because I was just thinking about the Mariah/Brenda K Starr the other day. I remember watching Vh1's Where are they now and Brenda was on one of the episodes. The way the story went Mariah sang backup for her and she was impressed with Mariah's voice so she says to her "what are you doing, why don't get a record deal". Next thing you know Mariah gets a record deal becomes a major star and it's Brenda who? and the rest is history.

I also remember Brenda saying there were times that she didn't have $1.50 to go to McDonalds and she didn't sound too impressed with Mariah's version of her song. She was comparing both their videos to the song and she talked about how hers matched the song and Mariah's didn't. I do have to give Mariah credit because she dedicated I Still Believe to Brenda K. Starr when her and Whitney was on Oprah back in 98 and was basically thanking Brenda for giving her her first big break.

I guess I can kinda see how Brenda would feel slighted and left out in the cold, but sometimes that happens, you give somebody a slice of the pie and you end up giving them a bigger slice than yourself without even meaning to.
