I wonder what their feud is all about? I saw The Stylistics in 1996,and Russell was still in the group.He sounded amazing...just like on the old records.But then he got sick for awhile,and had to leave the group.Did the guys hire a replacement in his absence? Could that be the reason for the hostility?

you can check out a pretty long radio interview from 2004 with russell thompkins on this link--he sounds like a nice guy, but you can tell he's bitter as hell about the split. you can hear 5 or 6 full length songs from his cd, " a matter of style " including "no one in the world", "jealousy" and "nothing in the world" "people make the world go round" and " foolish". The voice sounds still sounds pretty good but it sounds like his backing tracks were done on casio--
listen out for the caller who mentions Prince

one caller asks him if his "replacement" is related to him, and you can hear the bitterness in his voice. he says "I AM THE STYLISTICS"...

The Stylistics and Blue Magic sound very similar. When I bought The Stylistics Greatest Hits, I was pissed because "Sideshow" and "Start To Stop" weren't on it. Then I realized it was Blue Magic and bought their greatest hits also.
