Delfonics Vs. The Moments Vs. The Stylistics *vote!* Who IS the best Soul group out of these three?
i would put another group but these are the best (to me) Philly Soul Sound groups I know about other than The Dramatics, Black Ivory, O'Jays and Spinners... The Delfonics: with such classics as: La La Means I Love U Hey Love and.. (Didnt I) Blow Your Mind This Time The Moments (Ray Goodman & Brown) with such classics as: Not On The Outside Special Lady and Love On A Two Way Street The Stylistics with such classics as: You're A Big Girl Now You Are Everything and Betcha By Golly Wow my vote: The Moments [Edited 7/11/05 1:50am] Straight Jacket Funk Affair

I'm going with the Stylistics, then the Delfonics (they both had Thom Bell writing for'em), then the Moments...

All of these groups are amazing, but I think the Delfonics have the most consistent, most satisfying collection of hits.Their 'Definitive Collection' CD stays in my CD player...
La-La Means I Love You I'm Sorry Break Your Promise Ready Or Not (Here I Come) Somebody Loves You Funny Feeling Loving Him You Got Yours and I'll Get Mine Didn't I (Blow Your Mind This Time) Trying To Make A Fool Of Me When You Get Right Down To It Over and Over Delfonics Theme Hey Love Walk Right Up To The Sun Tell Me This Is A Dream Think It Over I Don't Want To Make You Wait I Told You So Lying To Myself Every song a classic."Hey Love" is one of most intoxicating slow jams of all times...so dreamy and lush.Even their uptempo songs ("Loving Him","Funny Feeling") are superb.Lauryn Hill is a huge fan of this group. When she was in the Fugees, she did a hip-hop re-make of their song "Ready Or Not (Here I Come)".Then, when she guested on a Nas song ("If I Ruled The World (Imagine That"),she sang the hook from the song "Walk Right Up To The Sun".The Delfonics like to point out that, when he was a young kid,Michael Jackson considered them his favorite group.

You read my mind! They were the best of Philly soul if you ask me. Beautiful harmonies, and I think they had the best of Bell's production. I love his production with them as much as I love Bacharach with Warwick (and that's a hell of a lot!). I love all three of these groups, but know the least about The Moments. Even if I knew more about them, I don't think it would change my stand on The Delfonics. Superb vocal group. Trying to Make a Fool of Me, Break Your Promise and Ready or Not are my favorites of theirs.

i love the delfonics, but they can't touch the stylistics:
my homemade compilation stays in my car rock and roll baby people make the world go round country livin ebony eyes you're a big girl now stone in love with you you'll never get to heaven if you break my heart betcha by golly wow break up to make up stop, look listen (to your heart) you are everything you're as right as rain you make me feel brand new children of the night it's too late let's put it all together payback is a dog hurry up this way again not to mention they are the highest grossing "oldies act"on the scene--they are always the headliners at the old school shows, whether it's 3 acts or 15. their sound and moves haven't missed a beat. the delfonics, on the other hand, are painful to hear and watch nowadays. The Stylistics are indeed doing well on those "Super Oldies" shows, but they are feuding with their original lead singer Russell Thompkins Jr.He is pissed at them, and has said that he will never perform with them again. They're touring with a guy who sounds alot like Russell.Meanwhile,Russell is touring with his own version of the group, called Russell Thompkins and the New Stylistics...lol...what a mess.

1. The Stylistics 2. Blue Magic 3. The Delfonics 4. The Moments Yep, Blue Magic was tough also. Can't say who's best cuz they're all great for different reasons. Everyone was bringing something cool to the table. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

Russell got the short end of the stick on this one, because he's basically fronting a cover band. Whereas the Stylistics are performing in arenas and theatres, the New Stylistics are performing at halls and caberets. you look better on your facebook page than you do in person

Man I love all three of those groups. From Delphonics Walk Right Up Too The Sun, To Stylisitcs Funky Weekend to my all time favorite Moments/RGB Special Lady.
There will never be groups like that now a days that were dominating radio in the late 60's til' the 70's. They just don't have the soul in them. Also suprised nobody metioned the Enchantment with Gloria, The Manhattans, The Dells, or the Intruders. One bsad thing abou all of this is that The Moments, Stylisticas and Delphonics will most likely not make it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. PRINCE: Always and Forever

I just thought that their ballads were a little more syrupy than The Moments and Delfonics songs...which had a little more depth. Though watching them sing live is very good.
